Once a country school  built in 1938 and used into the 1960's, this property with 5 wooded acres surrounded by pasture and farmland, has been our family home since 1982.

Pitch your tent in our woods, just a short walk in from the road. Campsite 1 is close to the road and house,  just about  50 paces in from the road. Campsite 2 is farther into the woods, uphill and offers more privacy.

The night and early morning sounds can be incredible! Coyotes, owls, loons,  frogs, sandhill cranes, wild turkey, cattle, sheep and chickens too.

While we currently do not have many amenities, we do offer  a get away from humanity, darkness , nature sounds , and   campfires.

While our property does not include a lake , there are many within a few short miles.

The small town of Avon on 1-94 is just 3 1/2 miles away. It offers access to the 65 mile long Lake Wobegon bike trail, the Avon beach,  a fishing pier, and legendary "Fisher's Club , home of the best darn walleye, all  on Middle Spunk Lake.

St John's University is a few short scenic miles away.   Hiking trails, maple syrup festival, bird watching, fall colors ... and many more reasons to visit this Benedictine campus.

Stearns county has 8 county parks with miles of hiking trails.

Birdwatching is excellent year around.

Avon Hills Folk School is little over a mile away.

El Rancho Manana is within 8 miles and offers horseback riding.

We currently only offer an open air composting toilet.

An amazing campsite. The site was clean, and well taken care of. The owners are super friendly, and offered us a tour of the entire site. Very family friendly with lots of beautiful woods to relax in. If you wanna go camping, but also be in a safe secure wooded area this is the place for you! 10/10 will be back!

Thanks Steve, we enjoyed having you and Q! After many years of camping with the family at noisy , crowded campsites, I am happy to offer these 2 sites . A place to get away and enjoy nature and solitude. Sorry the coyotes did not serenade that night , but I''m sure the cows with their calves made a bit of noise!

We had a delightful time. Site was safe, quiet and private. Brenda added nice simple touches like hurricane candles and a table made from an old wooden pallet. Plenty of kindling and firewood onsite and the compost toilet, while spartan, was clean and serviceable. Beautiful area; lots of places to hike and bike nearby. We even managed to see a Wilson's snipe, which was a real treat! Definitely aim to return.

Thanks for your kind words! I'm jealous though, you saw a Wilson's snipe! I only hear them... the bird sounds are incredible!

Brenda was such a great host. Showed me to my campsite. There it had firewood of all sizes, chairs, a table, and a fire pit. I was greeting in the morning by some very friendly cows across the fence. The mosquitoes were bad but I was expecting that in MN in July. I highly recommend this private campsite!!

Thanks Kristy, My goal is to provide a primitive setting away from humanity. No frills. You won't hear the next door camper's wild stories etc.... but animals , both wild and domestic will make themselves known! (Sorry about the mosquitos, I can't get them to leave!)

Brenda's place is not far from town or the interstate, but is very quiet and relaxing. We had a good night sleep and would stay there again!

There was a little lack of directions to the canpsite but once we got there it was pretty great.

Thanks, Sophia, glad you had a nice stay. Will work on the directions. Good to know. I am wondering if cell service was a problem for you to get directions. I would recommend to future campers, getting directions before getting close, because coverage can be spotty. Glad we could connect .

With our travel plans, we were only able to camp for a couple hours before hitting the road again but the site was clean, spacious enough, and plenty private!

Brenda was truly welcoming and flexible regarding our specific needs for our rooftop tent. Our dog loved the place as well. She was very communicative in the days leading up to our stay, and while we were there for the night.

We highly recommend her place.
