Our time at Auntie's Grove at Moonstone was perfect! Auntie's Grove is very spacious and you can se up exactly where you want to be. The outhouse was adorable and clean and, while we didn't use it, the solar shower looked perfect!
Upon arrival we were greeted by Abby the dog as well as host Audrey. During our stay we also met two affectionate kitties that live on the farm. :)
We spent our time relaxing, exploring Moonstone on the available paths, in the vineyard, and down by the pond. The pond was very warm and while you can swim there we didn't have a chance to do anything more than wading.. but we will be back for a swim another time! We took one of the two canoes out to explore the pond and were happy to find many many frogs! We also spent some time playing horseshoes at Auntie's Grove.
It was interesting to learn a bit about the history of the land from Audrey. In 1872, Richard's great-grandparents emigrated there from Sweden. We were very happy to find that Audrey and Richard acknowledge that they farm on Dakotah land.
We found a few things to purchase in the shop before leaving. I wish we could have purchased some of Audrey's art and Richard's pottery - maybe next time!
Auntie's Grove at Moonstone offers a lot for a relaxing and quiet trip or a fun excursion with the whole family. I'm already planning another trip so I can bring my kids who I know will love swimming and canoeing in the pond!
The hosts, Audrey and Richard, were available as needed. They also went above and beyond by providing cleaning products in the outhouse, at the water spigot, and in the summer kitchen.
Moonstone is such a lovely places... we didn't want to leave! In fact we liked it so much that we didn't venture away to explore the surrounding area - we had everything we needed right at Moonstone. :)

Our stay at Auntie's Grove was gorgeous! The campground was nice and private. Having the outdoor toilet and solar shower felt like a luxury. Our favorite spot was the beach by the lake. We went canoeing, swimming, paddle boarding, and played boardgames on the beach. There's lots of wildlife in the area, turtles, deer, and birds. Audrey and Richard were extremely warm and welcoming, and it was clear they're taking proper precautions as far as cleanliness amidst the pandemic. We would definitely recommend for anyone to stay here!
What an excellent visit we had! Property is gorgeous, so original and cozy. Artwork and flowers make it so pretty - fresh eggs, fresh jam. And the swimming pond and the trails- made it so relaxing. This was our first hipcamp experience and we are hooked. Hosts were so accommodating - we loved our stay at Moonstone.
I cannot recommend this location enough - we are already checking our calendars to see when we can return! Our campsite felt very private and came outfitted with a fire pit with 2 grates, a table, and two chairs! While I'm sure a heads up would've been appreciated, we waited until we arrived to purchase firewood in order to feel things out and make sure we felt safe spending extra time at our campsite. Audrey was very accommodating, telling us where to find good kindling, and our firewood bundle also included newspaper! Next time, this beautiful farm might be our destination instead of just a place to sleep on our way. The farmers were kind, the cats were friendly, and we spent much more time at our campsite than we had intended, feeling very relaxed and safe. Beautiful land!
We loved the stay at Moonstone Farm! It was a great experience to be on this beautiful property with all of the aesthetic and artistic touches everywhere. Loved having access to the farm pond to play in the water and explore in the canoe, then walk back past the gorgeous vineyards. Even got to try stand up paddle board for the first time! Our site was great and we had a lot of choices on where to set up our tent. Make sure to bring bug spray. The solar shower was awesome and really refreshing to have access to use it. Audrey and Richard were nice and welcoming! We even got to pick an apple for our return trip! Definitely recommended to get away and get peace and fresh air in.
Beautiful spot in the world! I was there during thunder storms which was very zen. Shower is a solar shower so only as warm as the sunshine.
This campsite is on a beautiful piece of land! The actual site is nice and shaded and definitely allows for privacy although someone may walk by now and then on their to/from the lake. The lake was our favorite part - there was a canoe, SUP and some floats available for use which was tons of fun for an afternoon on the water! There are also many cute turtles and frogs around. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming, very nice to have a conversation with! We actually arrived when they were out so the farm hand is who greeted us and he was nice too. When the hosts came home, we also met a few of their family members that they had over at the time and they were all so welcoming! Also, the toilet and shower is clean and well kept for a comfortable stay. It was an all-around nice time here.
What a beautiful farm! We had a wonderful time. Campsite was clean and private, and the hosts were very kind and helpful as well. Would highly recommend to anyone coming to the area!
Auntie’s Grove was charming, beautifully loved for and a true destination itself. Audrey and Richard were warm and informative upon arrival and attentive throughout. This is the kind of camping experience I wish everyone could have, personally speaking. Special and meaningful in the way that getting to experience something that others have cared for feels.
The camp sites are shaded and full of gorgeous Ash and Apple trees amongst many others. Flowering shrubs and bushes along with sculptures garnish the landscape. Captivating and charming beauty around every corner. Their appreciation for and maintenance of their land is evident in all details. The outhouse, (if you can call it that) was about as cute and clean as one could be and conveniently close. I love the manifesto that is hung there where you can read about their farm’s philosophy and the purpose behind the sustainable choices that they make.
The Broodio that my parents stayed in is perfect for those seeking a glamping experience. It was warm, the bed was super comfy, the decor adorable, amenities plentiful and an actual ice box and wood burning stove topped off the experience for them. The cottage itself sits upon a round foundation (of which I can only recount is similar to the Arcadia round barn, a Scandinavian architectural treasure) which acts as a natural porch equipped with a seating area and vine lined fence.
Their art adorns the grounds and their quaint store is filled with awesome and delicious items that they make on the farm or source from local vendors.
My only regret is that I didn’t buy this winged frog clay pot, but if it’s still there when I come back again, that’s the first thing I do.
Couldn’t recommend this place enough. It’s really sweet.
