Do you remember seeing the night sky full of stars and so close it felt as if you could reach up and touch them? Ever catch a glimpse of an owl silently hunting in the trees or try to identify different bird songs?

In our busy lives, often surrounded by noisy traffic or lights everywhere blocking out the night sky, we often miss that sense of being part of nature that is all around us. Being here, immersed in nature, you'll likely feel your body slough off the tension that all the hustle and bustle have built up in you and re-connect yourself with the natural world and you will come alive again and be refreshed in ways you might never have imagined.

Our yurt, surrounded by evergreens,  is a 3 to 5 minute walk from the main house.

Our group camping area consists of your own Yurt and additional tent campsites which are available for rent on our "Tent in the Pines" listing.  A great place for a family camping event. (eg. Mom and Dad and little ones stay in the Yurt, the older kids pitch their own tent a few yards away)

A fire ring and picnic table are included. A screened patio tent, a cookstove, and a solar shower bag for quick cleanup may be available to rent. Bring your own air mattress/mat and sleeping bags.

Bob and Roxanne ("BobandRox") were wonderful hosts who thought of everything to make our stay awesome. They helped us tow our gear to the site (a 2 minute walk from the house/parking) and made sure everything was setup with water and lots of firewood. They even drew us a map to help us navigate the grounds! The yurt was spacious, clean, and comfortable with a cot and mattress pad included. The stars were nice and bright, and waking up to the morning sun under the shade of the yurt was a welcome change of scenery. We definitely recommend staying with Roxanne and Bob and are planning to visit again soon!

Bob and Roxanne are wonderful and thought of everything. We definitely needed our bug spray, but they had plenty of firewood ready to keep the bugs away. The yurt was very clean and comfortable, and the complimentary sleeping mat was super comfy. I definitely recommend it!

We will definitely be returning! Kind hosts, always available to help, opened their home and made resources available to make our stay excellent!
Bob and Rox have outstanding qualities that compliment each other, varied life experiences.... who do you know that can hand tie snow shoes or make a yurt by hand?
Thank you both for a fabulous weekend!

It was the perfect weekend getaway - amazing views at dusk and dawn, lovely tree lined trails, and a well kept rustic area makes you feel close to nature and captures the essence of simple living. Bob and Roxanne were amazing hosts with lovely conversation and prepared for everything we had forgotten - even a mattress! Plus you can't go wrong with morning coffee! Overall, would highly recommend going for even just a night.

Bob and Roxanne are kind and accommodating hosts. The space that the yurt is in, is a beautiful meadow. We enjoyed our time there-so much. Also, their outhouse is the nicest one I have ever been in!

What a pivotal moment - to invite strangers into your home - and yet this is what you become part of at Yurt in the Pines. First Bob and Roxanne sit down with you to lessen the distance of unknowing. Their commitment to an ethical lifestyle permeates their conversation and continues as you tour their property. Reclaimed and/or locally sourced building material went into creating the elements that make this off grid home. From a solar powered dehydrator to the solar panels powering the house, a commitment to living with a small carbon footprint is evident. The mowed paths guide you around - past the impeccable garden and the building they’re preparing as another guest house. You’ll want to stop at the outhouse. A brilliant rope catch holds the door closed. A repurposed solar shower provides running water. To top it off, local students built it to help fuel their college dreams. The path meanders through the property. We saw deer and beaver tracks along with a variety of wildflowers. Watch your step as you explore this former Christmas tree farm.

Eventually the path leads to the yurt. It’s in a large grassy opening with plenty of room for additional tents. A picnic table is near the fire pit. Bob and Roxanne even started a fire so I would have warm coals as a base for my own fire. Plenty of wood and some kindling was nearby. Open the glass door (with another fascinating closure system) and enter the wood floored yurt. A table holds fresh water. They gave me a mat that folds into a couch to use. After a comfortable nights sleep, I woke to sun rays outlining the pine tree framed by the glass door. Bob and Roxanne thought of all the details to make this a perfect place.

If the yurt and beautiful setting don’t entice you to come back, the friendliest hosts around will beckon your return.

Bob and Roxanne were excellent hosts! They showed us around the property, pointed out some nice hiking trails, and walked us thru the yurt. It was myself, my wife and my daughter and we all just loved it. Quite and secluded. Bob and Roxanne had us over for coffee and scones in the morning. Highly recommended! !

We had a lovely weekend at Bob and Roxanne's place. They met us on arrival and made sure that we knew where everything was. They provided a large jug of cold fresh water for drinking and plenty of firewood for our nightly campfires. It was quiet and peaceful in the little meadow. The yurt worked great for our little family. They were great hosts and checked in with us to make sure that we had everything we needed during our little weekend adventure. We will be back for another getaway in the future. Thank you for the lovely coffee and scone send off. It was a lovely start to our drive back to reality. Thank you for the conversation and hospitality.
