This is a magical place. Patty and Michelle are some of the warmest, kindest souls you've ever met, and that spirit extends through the entire landscape. Their care for the landscape, buildings, and animals is genuine and strongly felt. They are very respectful of guests' privacy while being immediately and cheerfully available when engaged. We left feeling we had just visited our favorite cousins.
Amazing place to camp!
I can't say enough about how great Life is Good was for us! It really exceeded all my expectations and I'm so glad I got to experience the great hospitality and beautiful scenery. Patty and Michelle were amazing hosts and welcomed me in right away. They obviously care so much about their land and their animals. My daughter was able to get to know the sheep, goats, horses, dogs, cows, and more. We had access to delicious ice cold well water, trail to the pond to watch the fish swim, the cave, farm animals, large fire pit, and more. Waking up the birds singing and going to sleep with the frogs chatting was amazing. The bluffs, hills, and valleys gave a beautiful backdrop to our campsite. I would highly recommend this site!
We had such an amazing time at Life is Good! Our three kids loved being so close to the animals, and our hosts were gracious enough to let them help with barn chores! The site is HUGE - perfect for families with children who like to run. Clean outdoor toilet, fresh well water super close, stocked up with firewood - what more could you want? The cave was certainly a magical, super cool addition - and we found lots of hiking, swimming and other activities close by. Highly recommended!
We are so glad we found this destination on Hipcamp. The house, farm, and camping sites are in a stunning hilly setting with the most adorable collection of animals and pets. We had a wonderful time and the hosts, Patty & Michelle were super kind and accommodating. They even gave us a tour! Do not miss an opportunity to stay here.
We had a beautiful weekend. Our campsite was clean and freshly mowed. There was plenty of dry firewood. The views are second to none. The owners knowledge of the history of their property and surrounding area is awesome.
My wife and I are just getting back into camping after having four children. Shady Rest Acres offered a safe and enjoyable camping experience.
Thanks Patty & Michelle

This was a great property close to the Mississippi River. The campsite was very spacious, fire pit, firewood, and wooden prep table all provided. There are a few pastures for the owner’s animals close by that our friends’ 2 year old loved. Potable water, and outdoor toilet and shower (hooked up to hose) were nice to have in the absence of a communal bathroom facility.
Welcoming owners. Highly recommend for a get-away.
Shady rest acres
My family and I stayed here over the weekend. Upon arrival our host pleasantly greeted us and showed us to our site. We saw horses, chickens, donkeys, cats and dogs, sheep and cows. Our site was beautiful as it was overlooking the bluffs and animals. There was so much open space for our daughter to run and play. Our overall experience was better than expected and we will definitely stay again!
