Visit and lend a hand to a regenerative farm fostering an intentional agrarian community for beginning farmers while offering educational & sacred community gatherings!

We need HELP building this community and vision— do you see value in preserving skills of the past? Re-learning how to live and communicate in a thriving and connected community? Consider putting your energy where your values are and spend a few days weaving this story with us.

The garden needs tending, animals need rotating, the community building is functional but still in the construction chapter. Earthworks for water spreading and shedding, barn cleaning, thistle chipping, wild harvesting and drying, herbal medicine making and food preserving.

Stay in a re-purposed postal truck complete with outdoor shower, located in the old orchard (see map). Join us in The Coop ( the community building under construction) for food making, indoor plumbing and other creature comforts.

Balance work time with rejuvenating time:

Feed the cows some apples, cuddle up with a chicken and get some laughs watching the shenanigans of a full-of-character ex-street dog named Burdock. Take a hike through 76 acres of native prairie and hickory/oak forest.

LOTS of wildlife all around, at all times. You will probably hear geese, pheasants, song birds, coyote and see deer, trumpeter swans, mallard and wood ducks, sandhill cranes, leopard frogs, painted turtles, and maybe even a cougar ( one has been sighted here at NSF)! Cool off in the creek or visit Piepenburg Park or Belle Lake which are right around the corner. If you want to learn about wild foraging, medicinal herbs or anything farm-related we can arrange that, just ask.

There is also a meditation silo for those looking for a more inward experience. Group meditations are often held in the bell tent down in the old orchard.

Composting toilet available for your use. Bedding and mosquito net and towels also included but depending on the time of the year, you may want to bring extra mosquito protection if you choose to sleep in the post truck. Otherwise, bring your own tent.

Lovely, Independent Organic Farm!

Stephanie and Daniel surpassed anything we imagined from hosts. While Daniel was busy reimagining an old chicken coop for new projects; Stephanie was generous in sharing her expertise of foraging and natural medicine, suggesting on-site and nearby activities, and delicious organic produce (her tomatoes are out of this world!).

While it is an active organic farm, it's surprisingly quiet (only the 2 hosts were working alongside a collection of remarkably chill and content livestock). The one-eyed bluejay provided amusement and funny pictures but might startle those who are skittish around birds.

The truck was a sweet, cozy hideaway that kept us dry after rain and morning dew. An evening campfire (fire-ring & wood provided) was the perfect conclusion to a country weekend. We look forward to returning as we still have more woods, trails, and garden rows to explore. Highly recommended!

It was lovely to meet you Hannah + Will, and spend time with y'all in nature. Thank you for being so kind to the many animals who insisted on 'helping' you with your stay. We look forward to seeing you again.

Words cannot begin to describe our magical stay out at New Story farm! Stephanie and Daniel were the most incredible hosts; they were so warm and hospitable. They gladly took time to give us a tour of the farm. All the animals on the farm and so incredibly spoiled and loved and it definitely showed. The pigs happily came running for pets and snacks, the hand raised young turkeys would come from roaming the vegetable gardens and barnyard to sit in our laps and fall asleep to massages, and the three barn cats were so loving and sweet and loved to be held and cuddled. Even the cows were tame and we loved going out to visit them. The apple orchard that we camped in was so beautiful and it was wonderful being surrounded by stunning ripening apples. We loved using the common space for cooking meals and hanging out chatting with our friendly hosts. We can't recommend staying at New Story Farm enough, and we can't wait until we are back in the area to camp at this incredible farm again!
