Our private peninsula is as close as you can get to vacationing on a Northwoods island without the inconveniences of leaving shore. It feels away from it all but we're minutes from town. We have 330° views of quiet Prairie Lake and the cabin is just steps from the water. It’s a peaceful place to spend time with friends and family, relax, and get out and adventure. This is one of two cabins for rent on our 2-acre property in addition to our own home.

Nibi Cabin is a cozy, lakeside guesthouse that features high ceilings and natural light all day long. Large windows in the living area look out onto the water. The loft has a quality king-sized bed and the ground floor bedroom has two double beds. It’s is a combination of modern and rustic, with warm, natural wood finishes, an open living and dining space, and a kitchen and bathroom stocked with the all the essentials for a comfortable stay. The cabin is winterized and available all year.

Prairie Lake is quiet and has little boat traffic, perfect for paddling and fishing. We have two kayaks and a canoe available for guests. Visit the rocky gorge, reminiscent of the Boundary Waters, at the south end of the lake, take in sunrises and lake breezes on the dock, and enjoy watching beavers swim past and listening to the loons sing. The sandy beach on the point has a gradual slope and is great for swimming and soaking up the sun.

Guest are welcome anywhere on the property. We have two kayaks, a canoe, two docks with space for your boat, and fire pits that are available for you to use. We also have firewood, lawn chairs, spare life jackets, picnic tables and lawn games.

Although the expansive lake views give the feeling of seclusion, we're just five miles from shops and dining in downtown Grand Rapids to the south and less than 10 miles from the National Forest to the north. Entrance to the Taconite Trail and Mesabi Trail, one of the longest paved trails in the nation, is less than two miles away. The surrounding area has exceptional XC ski trails and lots of options within 15 minutes. You can access snowmobiling trails directly from our property via the lake. The bait shop, convenience store and public boat access are just a half mile away.

We are generally around to greet guests and help with anything you might need. We like to enjoy the lake and getting outdoors as well, but are sure to be respectful of your space and experience. Let us know if you want suggestions for activities, rentals, or local hotspots, we're happy to help.

We are family-friendly and pet-friendly. We have a pet fee of $30/stay and request that pets stay off of furniture and beds. We allow events with the rental of both cabins. Our event fee is $400.
