An Oregon Trail throwback without the dysentary? Blue Mound State Park will make your childhood dreams come true. At Blue Mound, Bison herds graze the prairie, a Sioux quartzite cliff rises 100 feet from the plains and prickly pear cactus bloom in the summer. Birdwatchers can catch nesting blue grosbeaks, and adventurers can explore 13 miles of trails and great rock climbing. The campground includes drive-in, walk-in and RV sites.

Some of the cart in sites are AMAZING and very secluded with rock formations . The trails are beautiful with many blooming flowers and prickly pear cactus plants . This would be a great place to try out that new rock climbing gear .

The rock quarries are breathtaking and ready to climb if you have the right gear . Perfect for the beginner . Yes , Minnesota has cacti ! If you're lucky , you will hit up this park when the prickly pear cactus plants are blooming . Consider it a scavenger hunt :) There are also many blooming prairie flowers in this park . Blue Mounds CampgroundSome of the cart in sites have these amazing rock formations :)
