We really tested out this camper and tipi with thunderstorms both nights, 40 degree temps and a dog. We had everything we needed and more and had a great time. We had coffee and donuts in the camper in the mornings, cocktails in the camper in the evenings then went to bed in the tipi at night. We stayed warm and dry til morning with the propane heater and ozan liner. Bruce is very helpful and attentive to make sure you have everything you need. Before we arrived he had a port a potty delivered and installed down the path. He had plenty of lights and batteries, propane and kitchen supplies. We used the heated outdoor shower and it was great. If the weather was better, we would have used the grill and propane fire pit. There are grass mowed paths to take a walk, which our dog really enjoyed. There are trees surrounding this site and the property is 15 acres with a small lake and a log cabin (also for rent). It was very quiet and the log cabin was set apart with attention to keep the 2 spaces private. We hiked in the woods and sand dunes at Grand Mere State Park, Saugatuck Dunes and Warren Dunes State Park. We enjoyed the Tulip Festival in Holland. We got take out from DiMaggio’s pizza. We had great drinks and/or meals at these dog friendly establishments: The Livery, Wicks Park restaurant, Uncommon Grounds and Journeyman Distillery. I love Lake Michigan and all the great things to do and places to see. I would definitely stay here again to use as a basecamp for exploring the area. And I really appreciate that it is dog friendly!
My wife and I had a great time at the tipi / rv campsite! The hosts were excellent and easy to communicate with and were very accommodating. We had an issue with the water and they fixed it right away. The site is lovely and private and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a unique getaway.
We had a great time at Bruce's tipi and camper! Bruce and his son Max were great hosts and we had all the things we needed to have a great two nights' stay. Would definitely recommend to other couples looking for a getaway in MI and a unique experience. It's very private and cozy.
We were there with our 14month old son who also loved the tipi! It was a little challenging keeping him out of things (there are lots of cords and gadgets sitting around) but it was completely manageable and we even had room for his pack n play in the tipi!
Very cool location. Tipi was decorated very cozy. Lots of little lights.
Also the water and electricity system is done very cleverly. Solar power, battery power and if needed a generator.
Loved taking a hot shower out with a view of the trees around.
Also lots of stuff to use, like a coffee maker or a beach umbrella. Think of anything and Bruce has probably thought of it before.
Also, Bruce is a great host. Very friendly. Took time to show the plot and all facilities.
One thing thouhgh: be sure to bring mosqito spray if its hot and humid out. It is in the middle of a beautiful but very nature-y surrounding. (There are nets around the beds btw).
We had THE BEST time at the tip and camper this weekend. Bruce set us up perfectly with directions and some tips via email before our arrival. He also confirmed via text and offered to purchase some wood for us so that we wouldn't have to bother stopping. Bruce met us when we arrived and explained all of the nuances of the tipi and camper about 15 minutes..
The site had everything we needed, including a shower, grill, picnic table, chairs and an umbrella for the beach and air conditioning!! Our kids loved both the tipi and the camper. The grounds were private, clean and well kept. We also loved walking along the mowed paths and checking out the frogs down by the pond.
We hope to return soon and would definitely recommend staying at the tipi!
Great hipcamp experience!!
Bruce was a great host from the moment I took a wrong turn and needed help finding the parking spot! He walked us through all of the available amenities, and left us with everything we needed and more for a short city escape. The hot outdoor shower was my favorite “glamping” feature, but everything about this place was as described. Loved it!
It was really cute
Me, my friend and her three kids stayed for two nights. They went wild for the tipi. Everything was as described and it was easy to get to both the Hagar and St. Joe beaches. Bruce was a delight and helpful getting us ready for the rain. The kids loved the paths and ran them over and over. A good time was had by all. It’s really a great location.
