Cotton creek paradise
This site was amazing! Way beyond our expectations. This was our first trip in our vintage Toyota camper. We were traveling from WI to MI for a wedding and crossed Lake MI on the ferry. We originally planned on staying only one night on our way back and had booked ahead, but when we got to MI, decided to camp the first night as well. We booked pretty late in the evening and all was well. It was very nice to be able to book last minute with their instant book option.
The land is beautiful, the hosts were extremely accommodating and nice. They provided bottled water and dry fire wood. There had been a lot of rain in the days before our arrival so they brought dry fire wood and kindling to our campsite and even helped us to start the first fire. You can't beat free fire wood!
The site we stayed at was right next to an adorable little creek and pond. They had walking planks placed across the creek so that you can walk to the little island between the creek and pond. Very private, very beautiful. Complete with tiny water fall that was amazing to listen to while sitting at the stone circle fire pit.
This is not just a camp site. There is plenty of hiking to do. The hosts let us hike around their land at our leisure. There is a fantastic tent site there as well that we would love to come back to someday. It's surrounded by the creek and has a huge stone fire pit.
We will definately be back on our next trip to MI. It's located only a half hour from Traverse City and an hour and a half from Ludington where the ferry comes in to MI, which made it the perfect place to stay for us.
Can't say enough about this place! Loved it and miss it already.
What a beautiful spot! Site 3 was perfect for my husband and I who are novice campers. Rustic without being completely removed from civilization. We heard snippets of dog barks, trucks, and chickens, but mostly the creek and bird songs. The creek surrounded by lush woodland was so refreshing and clear; a couple days spent here was an ideal retreat. Very easy to get to, no "hiking in." Thomas and Laura are very personable and excellent hosts, who exceeded expectations by providing some firewood, bottled waters, and a tiki torch.
What we needed.
Where do I start. The host first of course. Not only were they very accommodating but Super friendly folks down to the chicken's, bunny, frogs, creek, everything. We were at campsite 1 and 2. It is closer to county line road but perfect for campers and larger groups. Coming from the city we didn't mind it much but it was also memorial day weekend. Follow Thomas directions and you won't get lost. We had an open feild to play in, the creek to stay cool, an out house to pooh, bottled water provided by the host, free wood. Did I mention free wood!!! We were adventuring around the property and was greeted by their super friendly chickens. They could've come after us but they didn't and that's how you know the folks here are very caring folks. We were then met by a bunny that was just chillen facing in the other direction but when it saw us. We couldn't help but to pet and take pictures. We then walked towards the pound behind their property and was greeted by Thomas wife. She told me her name but I forgot. Sorry. She allowed us to swim and also take out their paddle boat. This is where super friendly frogs and fishes came to greet us. We spent a good bit of time interacting with the pond and what it gives us. Perfect ending to a beautiful day. The way these folks are living I would give anything for it. Fresh eggs for sale, we had to bring some home and they were tasty. Overall the property is going in the right direction for more sites. Give it time folks and you'll see what potential this property has. Overall, will be coming back. Once we edit the photos we took. We will be uploading them and you'll see the adventure that is to be had.
Beautiful get-a-way from the city!
Very beautiful area and scenic camp site. Plenty of firewood to keep the fire going all night long. Plenty of space to camp for a large group. The stream water was so refreshing on a hot day. Hosts were super nice. On the last day we got to take out the paddle boat around the pond. Only negative is the first camp site is very close to the road so you hear(and see) cars and trucks going by. The deeper sites would be nicer I can imagine. Overall great trip and I would stay again.
A pleasant relaxing surprise.
Very private rustic camping. I had campsite 3. I really appreciated the fire pit with cinder blocks and firewood, the creek, and the soft sand to walk on. I was passing through and only stayed as a place to pass the night, but regretted not arriving earlier! I would like to come back again.
