A true refuge
Nick and Teresa were perfect hosts. Boondock Ridge is clearly stewarded with so much care and attention to detail.
As a solo camper I felt extremely welcome and safe.
The river was a highlight and the spring water to drink was nourishing. It is truly a place to replenish your full self!
Toads, turtles, and snakes oh my!! What an amazing site. Nick and Teresa have an absolutely perfect site for the road warrior camper. There site is separated in to what I call an “upstairs” and “downstairs” site. The upper site you can park right at and the view is killer!! The privy is very close too to the “upstairs” site.
The “downstairs” site I stayed at and it is a little walk up and down the hill to your car. It has the natural spring near by that’s noise along with the grumble of trucks up on the road downshifting reminded me of when my Grandpa would visit and leave the bathroom door open at night. After 3 hours though it became more hypnotic than annoying.
I would say this isn’t the best site for the light sleeper, but honestly I can’t invent a complaint. My little interaction with Nick and Teresa was very pleasant and I know I will be back for sure. To add icing on the cake, I’m pretty sure Nick will re-grip your golf clubs too for an added cost, but awesome to know nonetheless!!
Refreshing camping experience
This was my first time ever camping but my husband is an experienced camper. I was very thankful for such a great location and an awesome experience. It was SO easy to find, honestly easier than I expected. We also had full LTE service (on Sprint) so that made me feel more comfortable as a woman walking around at times alone. The drinking water was cold and refreshing, as was the river! The host stopped by shortly after we arrived to make sure everything was okay which I appreciated. The river is shallow enough in most parts to easily walk through so we had an amazing time exploring it. We will be back! It was well worth the drive.
Great place to camp and swim
This is a great spot for kids to play in the river. The water is only a few feet deep in the deepest parts and the bottom is completely sandy. The campsite is also great for astronomy with a nice open area far from city lights! We set up camp near the swimming area, which is down a hill and further from the entrance, to minimize road noise, but if we went again we’d stay up the hill closer to the camp entrance as the road noise really decreased at night.
