One of the highest summits, south of South Elberta, near Dunes. The Dune Summit is a walk-in site overlooking Lake Michigan, Betsie Bay and the entire Betsie watershed. You will walk roughly 15 minutes on an incline on my private 2-track. Your car can park at my barn studio.

Walking distance to Lake Michigan bluffs and over 200 acres of Green Point Conservancy for endless forest hikes to shoreline beach.  There is also a public parking spot and stairs to Lake Michigan beach (camp fires on beach are allowed). The public beach parking is 5 minutes from my site. The property has the perfect balance of deep woodland privacy while being perched high with sparse views of Betsie Bay and Frankfort. Also a mix of hardwoods and open sun lit meadows. Biking distance to the Village of Elberta for local restaurants, bar and farmers market. Also across the Bay to Downtown Frankfort. Firewood provided. I encourage you to pack light. Dune habitat is a rare and delicate ecosystem. As such, do not pick plants and set up camp beyond the designated site. Please take your trash with you when you go.

Feel free to communicate any special needs or requests before you arrive.

And of course, Enjoy!

Excellent location for enjoying Elberta and all the region has to offer. The site was quiet (some road noise from MI-22, but that was ok), and a wonderful spot for viewing the Perseid meteor shower. We had a pleasant hike on property with our dog (off leash) and appreciated being so close to so much to do; kayaking, biking, beaches, nature preserves, and good coffee at the Conundrum Cafe. Also, a fairly short and very scenic drive to Empire and the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. Robert is an attentive host; we appreciated his off-the-grid dwelling project and plans for developing the property. Great place to stay if you don't mind roughing it a bit!

The Elberta Dunes site was an experience! Robert has a lot of ideas and I can imagine this site will only get better. Be prepared to hike in to your site and pack minimally. The wind was gusting at the top of the dune for a majority of the night, so be sure to stake down anything that could fly away. GREAT VIEWS and awesome 'public' beach near by.

There are many positive features of this site. Our site was very private with incredible views overlooking the city of Frankfort, the dunes, and Lake Michigan off in the distance. Additionally a beautiful beach with gorgeous views is a short drive from the camp site which we really enjoyed. The host, Robert, was very helpful and friendly. However I think it is very important to note that this is a hike-in camp site location, and very rustic. Be prepared to pack lightly, as you can expect a 15 minute hike into the camping location- this also includes carrying any firewood you may want. If you are an avid camper and enjoy a rustic experience- this is the ideal location.

This campsite is literally your own private sand dune overlooking Lake Michigan and an adjacent inlet. It's pristine and beautiful and extremely private. We were the only ones camping at the time, but it's big enough to still be private if others are there. You'll have to carry your stuff in on a small hike, so nothing too big or heavy. Well worth it for a rustic and gorgeous site.

Idyllic spot with plenty of exploration for 3 kids and the dog. Even the winds were fun!

Amazing camp spot. Secluded and private with a stunning view. The night sky alone makes it worth it. Close to everything you'd like to see and do in the area yet remote at the same time.
The host, Robert, is very accommodating and friendly. He provided us with everything we needed camp-wise, as well as tips for the local attractions. Not only a great host but also a great person.
This is a hidden gem and not only will I be recommending this place to my friends, I will also be returning here in the future.
