My property (Lynx Run) has an amazing geological and historical background. During the last ice age, glacial waters carved out the ravine in which the Betts Creek flows.  Sometimes, the creek drops over 60 feet below the surrounding terrain as it meanders back and forth in oxbows as it flows toward the Muskegon River.  It was once the hunting, foraging and camping grounds of the Potawatami Indians.  In the late 1800's it was at the center of the Michigan Timber Industry.  Running along the edge of my property is the old railroad bed where timber was once hauled away.  Only two miles from my home, the logs were sent down the side of the hill and into the Muskegon River on log chutes and then floated to where the Muskegon empties into Lake Michigan.  Piles of field stones indicate that after the timber industry moved on, farmers moved in and attempted to tame the land.  But, fortunately for me, the land was abandoned by the farmers and has returned to a much more natural and pristine state.  My land is now a part of the Manistee National Forest and I am surrounded by thousands of acres of beautiful land (both public and private).  I am the only person who lives back here in this part of the forest, so seclusion and privacy are wonderful and the wildlife and beauty is abundant.

Cabin
This was an amazing place to stay — very cozy cabin, interesting main house with gorgeous library of curiosities and books, stunning grounds and trails, and beautiful gardens of fall colors.

Peaceful sanctuary
This is the second time I've stayed here and it did not disappoint. Robert's assistant Tara was helpful and accommodating and we had a great time chilling by the stream, bird watching, cooking over the fire. It's such a sanctuary and so peaceful. I hope to be back again sometime in the Fall.

Secluded Wildlife Paradise
This is a perfect weekend escape! We loved driving back to the property and the seclusion this site offers and absolutely delivers. We were the only people camping this weekend, so that added even more peacefulness and seclusion. The property is beautiful! Tent camping right next to the babbling brook was incredible. The perfect way to fall asleep in the wilderness! The house is beautiful as well and the art studio looked amazing! The staff is also very extremely friendly and helpful! Tara was on site and gave us a tour and happily helped us with any of our questions and needs throughout our stay. Robert was extremely helpful and kind as well as easily accessible in regards to communication. Bathroom facilities were very nice with some added essentials in the space (towels, lotion, shower supplies, etc). This is a very nice piece of land with plenty to explore and very beautiful scenery and equally as beautiful facilities. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return again in the future!
