This gorgeous courtyard guest room is nestled in a courtyard garden between an art studio and architecturally beautiful house of contemporary Japanese design influence. The garden has pathways and lots of flowers and stonework. The art studio is open for viewing and use by guests as is the house. The library is one of a kind! The kitchen is beautiful and the house is full of artwork. Each room is private and there are two shared bathrooms in the courtyard. Each bathroom comes with a very nice tiled hot shower, towels and soap/shampoo. The whole property is one garden after another and is surrounded by the Manistee National Forest. It's stunning here every season of the year. Guests will have full privacy in their rooms. Most of the rest of the spaces are shared, but the grounds and home are expansive and offer lots of private areas.

I cannot express the amount of amazement & the extent of pure astonishment & admiration I felt here. Robert has put so much thought & effort into his place; between being 100% off grid, to his unique decorating style- I just LOVE it! This is honestly one of the coolest places I've ever stayed!
My boyfriend & I were at Robert's for 2 nights celebrating our anniversary. The first night we stayed in his cabin, which is on a different listing (beautiful wilderness cabin) & the second night in this guestroom. Both were amazing & unique in their own way.
Robert's place is AMAZING! I cannot recommend this place enough! If you're thinking of booking- JUST DO IT! I was awe-struck when I first walked into his house, seeing his paintings, kitchen, garden, library, & his cabin... & guarantee you will be too! Robert is the kindest, nicest, friendliest dude & is beyond talented! We had a little mix up with the original plans, but he was right there making things right- which we so appreciate!
Some things to take notice about Robert's place:
-It's kind of a long trek to get to his place on a bumpy dirt road. So if it's muddy, you might want to reconsider if you have a car. It's do-able, but a little tricky (I found this out in my car after it rained all night while we were there). But we made it!
-If you want complete privacy, this place probably isn't the place for you. The kitchen, deck & everything else (besides your room) is a shared space. Unless you're staying in the cabin, which is off the beaten path & a whole lot more private.
-There are 2 shared bathrooms, with showers & toilets. (It is a little walk to these if you're staying at the cabin).
-There are beautiful hiking trails all along Robert's property (so there is stuff to do if you don't want to chill inside your room all day).
-There is also a grill at the cabin & at the main house. So I recommend taking advantage of that! Also bring food before you get to Robert's place because once you get there, you won't feel like making the trek back into town.
Thanks oh so much Robert for everything! Evan & I had a blast staying at your unique place & we will MOST CERTAINLY be back! Thanks again for your hospitality & all the interesting conversations with you & your guests- we wish you the best!
Simply one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. The property has a magical mythical feeling to it.
I spent 3 nights here and each day seemed infinitely long, in a good way. Come here for a weekend and it'll feel like you took a month off work.
The buildings on this property are filled with natural expression and beauty that compliments the 20 acres outside. Robert is an incredible artist and a very warm and caring host.
Can't recommend it enough.
Heaven on Earth! This is a place of spectacular beauty and Serenity. Robert and his crew were wonderful hosts, and I grew to love them In a short time period. A couple of days in Roberts paradise is highly recommended especially during these times. I already miss them and can't wait to go back!!
This place is amazing. If you're looking for somewhere to unwind and be close to nature this is it.
If you are the type who likes to look for inspiration in nature and in the actions of other people, you'll find it here. Being able to see an artist's vision come to life on 20 acres of pristine forest will inspire you!
Rob and his staff are very personable and accommodating. The shared spaces are amazing. Thank you to Rob, Cat, and Cooper for giving me two days of solid rest and more kind memories to add to an amazing home state adventure.
If you do camp here, hit the hiking trails, SLOW DOWN, find somewhere to sit, and take a moment or two to be as quiet as you can. I took a seat in a cathdral of tall trees next to a stream surrounded by gigantic ferns. After being quiet for 5 minutes realized i had a front row seat to a symphony filled with birdsong, a breeze in the branches and bows above me, and gentle water making it's way down the hill in a small stream i just hiked up.
5 minutes...
There is the magic of miracles all around us, always. But some places seem to show them to us in ways that make us pause and realize how lucky we are to be there, to be one of them, and to be at one with them.
Camp here, look around, be inspired.

We had a great experience with Robert being an interesting a and gracious host. The people we met were all easy to be around.
The entrance road to the place can be a little scary but if you follow the directions the host gives its not confusing at all. Once u reach there I promise you won’t believe ur eyes. The place it so beautiful and it accommodates everything u would like to do. The host is very friendly and welcoming too. 10/10 would recommend anyone and everyone that can to go stay there!
The site is absolutely gorgeous! Robert is a lovely host, very welcoming and inclusive. All of the other guests were very sweet and kind. It’s quite idyllic.
Lynx Run is a magical place. The woods are amazing and beautiful. Robert and his staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. They are animal friendly and art is everywhere. We will definitely be returning soon.
What a relaxing and unique stay with Robert. The room was separate from the main house by a few steps, but everything was open for us to use within the house including the kitchen/lounge area/etc. We were able to do some work there using the Wi-Fi, which was very convenient. The house is beautiful and amazing and the trail on the property is picturesque and simple to follow. We had a lovely weekend retreat!
