-------- About the Space --------

Our property is a cozy 4.5 acre flower farm atop a beautiful vista surrounded by hundres of acres of contiguous nature preserves, county parks, and state game area.

-------- Camping --------

We offer a few options for camping; a big open flat sunny area and a few shady tree groves. The barn has an open lean-to big enough for most campers, if you would like a roof.

There’s ample space to park a vehicle near your spot, including for pop-up campers or RVs. Please indicate if you have a large or many vehicles.

-------- Amenities --------

Water is available via a hydrant that pumps from well water, we like the taste. There is a rustic dry composting toilet for your solid wastes.

We have electric in the barn if needed. We do not currently have wifi.

-------- Social Atmosphere --------

We’ll often be out working in the flower farm, taking our dogs for walks, and may be hosting other campers, so expect to have some socializing around the farm and at bonfire in the evenings. We love to hear your stories and share ours.

Anyone looking to rent the whole space exclusively for more privacy, can do so for an extra charge at a first come first serve basis.

-------- Adventure Awaits --------

HIKERS, TRAIL RUNNERS, & NATURE ENTHUSIASTS:

It's a short walk to amazing remote natural area for wildlife viewing, a quarter mile to the middle of 38 mile Pinckney-Waterloo trail system that connects the two huge recreation areas with abundant hiking and nature viewing.

MOUNTAIN BICYCLISTS:

We are 1 mile from the very popular mountain biking DTE Energy Foundation Trail. We are 6 miles north of downtown Chelsea, MI with the majority of the route including the B2B multi-use trail system.

PADDLERS & HORSE ENTHUSIASTS:

We sit smack-dab in the middle of both the Waterloo and Pinckney Recreation Areas, which offer some amazing spots to paddle, swim, and ride horses, among many other activities.

MOTORCYCLISTS:

We're along North Territorial Road, a popular scenic motorcycling route, and only 10 minutes from a golf course. Our neighbors are few and secluded. And we have a couple wonderfully friendly dogs.

DISC GOLFERS:

We are a ten minute drive to Hudson Mills Metropark, which boasts two amazing 24 hole courses. Additionally, we’re 25 minutes from Independence Lake County Park, the local favorite with 18 holes. Lastly, about 30 minute drive will get you to Bandemer, a chill course near the Huron River in Ann Arbor.

 -------- Words of Caution --------

We do have lots of poison ivy, stinging nettle, ticks and plenty of mosquitos. The hiking nearby isn’t always a mowed trail, so come prepared with long pants, tall socks and hiking boots if you want to explore the preserve.  We’re glad to show you what to look for if you’re unfamiliar, they are all easy to avoid with the right precautions.

This was my first hipcamp trip and it was so great. The hosts were super kind and the property is beautiful. As a single female camping I can say I felt super safe and comfortable. The series of yards and trails this place has is mind-blowing and is a very special piece of property. I would 100% recommend for people to visit this property and to explore the nature preserve, I was in awe during all of my walks of the property.

My favorite Hipcamp experience yet. The hosts were super accommodating and I immediately felt at ease. The farm is stunning and has a great backstory. Can’t wait to go back.

My wife & I and our dog loved it! Great trails out back in the nature preserve for hiking and several options for camp sites. Doug had a family party there the night we stayed but made us feel like family with his invites to join them at their potluck dinner and hilltop bonfire that evening. He gave us multiple updates leading to that day and that really helped get prepared. He still needs to get individual campfire rings at each site, if that is the plan, but we enjoyed the bonfire he kept going on the hilltop. He provided us with chairs and we stayed for 4 hours visiting with him, fellow campers and some of Doug’s guests! Great time! We’ll be back!

Our first Hipcamp stay was a great one thanks to Doug. The sunset view from the top of the hill is beautiful, and the secluded spot where we set up our tent was a really nice change from crowded campgrounds. Doug is a very accommodating host, and joined us by the fireside for a while to tell us the story of his land and their plans for it, which we are excited to see.

This would be a great place to bike or hike to (it's close to the new DTE trail and Park Lyndon and the Waterloo Pinckney Trail), so we're looking forward to returning by foot or by bike!

So glad you enjoyed it, and we enjoyed hosting you both. Come visit again anytime, there is a new trail on the nature preserve to explore!

Doug was a very warm host and we had a great time staying on his beautiful property. There were several areas to choose from and we easily found a flat spot for our van. We came to ride the DTE mountain bike trails which were only ~mile away. It was also a treat to meet the other Hipcampers at the bonfire in the evening.

Such a lovely spot. Douglas and Katherine are lovely and the farm is easy to get to. Our camping spot was nestled among the trees. Saturday morning we took a great hike in the surrounding nature preserve where we saw lots of butterflies and wildflowers.

One note would e to bring closed toe shoes and long pants as some areas have poison ivy!

Douglas and Kathryn were very warm and welcoming hosts and they made sure to keep in touch during our stay to ensure we didnt need for anything. The grounds were beautiful and our spot on the hill was perfect. It was quite cloudy during our stay but it would have been thee perfect place to watch the sunset and stars. We spotted deer and turkeys in the connecting nature reserve and had a great horned owl come hang out with us in the trees by our tent in the evening. The area is a amazing for hiking and bikers. Thanks again to Doug and Kathryn!
