Relax, fish, kayak, sit around a fire or just listen to the loon on the lake.On the water rustic camp. It has two buildings: one a bunkhouse with both a queen and twin bed (there are two mattresses on the twin so 4 could sleep in the bunkhouse if one was placed on the floor) and the main cabin has a full-size futon. There are hotplates, a counter top oven, coffee pot, toaster, a refrigerator, a shower and sauna. It also has a screened-in outdoor kitchen area with a four-burner cooktop and a gas grill. This is a great place to hang out away from rain or bugs! Wi-fi is available. Guests will NOT have potable water and will use an outhouse for a bathroom.  We do provide a 5-gallon water jug full for cooking and coffee. Towels, bedding, toilet paper, some coffee ARE provided as are spices and basic condiments. ONLY ONE dog allowed per booking. ***Firewood is provided. Sporley Lake has Bass, Trout and Splake to catch. 3 Kayaks are available-with life jackets. There is a boat launch a quarter of a mile away. Our lake is shallow by camp and is perfect for young kids or dogs. It is spring fed and clear. Many of our guests do day trips to Pictured Rocks or mountain biking around the Marquette area. ---The owners are located on the lot nearby. Property location/directions will be shared closer to the booking date.

The Lonesome Loon
Best Labor Day Weekend in the UP!
We loved the Lonesome Loon! Rayme and John were fantastic hosts, and directions and how to use the property were very straightforward and easy to follow. There is a separate main house, bunkhouse, and outhouse -- all very close together. Kitchen area was fully stocked with everything needed to cook. There is a grill outside that was great to use as well. Bunkhouse was cozy as well. Kayaks available for use on the lake along with some floaties and pool noodles. Water was chilly as expected in the UP!

The Lonesome Loon
We couldn’t have had a greater first experience in the UP. We spent an extended weekend at the Lonesome Loon and toured the Marquette and Munising areas. The hosts are great communicators, friendly, very accommodating, gave us insider tips on where and when to go to avoid crowds and went beyond our expectations to make our stay memorable. The premises are well kept. Air is fresh, the forest surrounding the cabin had wild blueberries almost everywhere and the views were relaxing in any weather. There is a newly built pier with easy access to the shallow and warm lakefront which our kids loved. Sauna was cozy, authentic and easy to use. Kitchen is well equipped. Dutch door outhouse was thoughtful. Beds were comfortable and clean. The cabins have a very welcoming and homelike feel. John and Rayme are definitely star hosts.

The Lonesome Loon
Wonderful!
The Lonesome Loone is lovely! My kids and I had originally planned to visit the UP for mountain biking, but looking at the weather forecast, hauling bikes from MN didn’t seem worth it, so we shifted gears and decided to just relax with books and games for our long weekend. I was a little worried it would be too rustic for our plan but I was wrong. Comfy beds, cozy main cabin, the outdoor seating is fabulous and the lake is great for both fishing and swimming. The suana is wonderful on chilly evenings. Highly recommend!

Cabin on the lake!
The Lonesome Loon is a fantastic spot. We highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind on a beautiful lake. If you like grilling, fishing, kayaking, swimming and relaxing by a fire, then this is the place to do it. There's also plenty of things to do in the area and Marquette was an easy 30 minutes drive away. Rayme and John were very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. Check in instructions were very easy to follow which is always appreciated. We'd love to come back.

Our stay was a summer dream🎣🌲🍻🌭
We absolutely loved our stay at the Lonesome Loon! 😊 You’re right on the lake, with your own deck and outdoor seating, a great sauna!!! a bbq, a fire pit, a dart board - Rayme and John also lent us their kayaks which was great - what more could you want! The cabins were cozy and clean and the main cabin had a kitchen and fridge/freezer which was very helpful. There’s a basic shower in the sauna room and an outhouse. (The two cabins and the outhouse are close to each other👍🏼) Rayme and John were great and also our next door neighbours so they were around to help if we had any questions. Definitely recommend!
