Such a cool experience! Absolutely worth the hike carrying all our gear (and toddlers) Beautiful views and a really nice beach nearby. Robert was a great host, he had plenty of firewood available at no cost and hiked us up to show us where the site/firepit was and where to set up the tent. There is definitely wildlife in the area. The hike starts out in a wooded/forest area that leads up into the dunes with many wildflowers/native plants all around. We were so grateful to Robert for sharing his natural paradise with us.

Beautiful Stay at Hygge Dune!
We had an absolutly wonderful time camping at Hygge Dune! Robert was such a great host, he met us when we arrived and shared some great stories and information about the land and walked us up to the camping sight. It's about a 15 min walk from the car so like the other reviews have stated, make sure to pack light (which we did). It was absolutly worth the trek, the area is so beautiful and private and Robert set a really great spot for the tent which kept it protected from the wind, and we were able to set our chairs up a tad higher on the dune just a few feet away. There was also a path where you could walk to the bluff that overlooks Lake Michigan - it was no more than an easy 10min minute walk and the views were absolutly STUNNING. We didn't have too much of an issue with bugs which was nice. We couldn't have a campfire due to fire restrictions but that didn't put a damper on our time there. The town of Elberta and Frankfurt were close by so we went into town for breakfast and dinner, there were also lots of other activities in the area so if you wanted to venture away from the campsite during the day there is lots to do. I could not recommend this place enough and we hope to come back again.
