Pitch your tent, or small camper on what used to be the Hole-1 Fairway of the old Wawonowin golf course. This is one of our smaller spots nicely tucked in the trees and very close to the trail and the port-a-pottie, and it now has a firepit and a picnic table!

Nice folks with great amenties
Camping here was great. Water from a hose. Outlet near site. Portapotty near site. Fire pit and picnic table on site. Parking right on site. Free fire wood and propane to help start it. Super nice people. We were upgraded for free to a site very close to the horse barn, so not sure how the "Hole 1" site would actually be.
Joni and Phil were wonderful. Phil brought us out to a beautiful private field with fire pit and a port o potty, that was very clean. He then returned with firewood and stayed to chat for a bit. He was a super nice and we really enjoyed talking with him.
The site was beautiful and had a few deers roaming around. I could not recommend them more highly. Only regret was we could only stay overnight. Would have loved to spend some time with the horses.
10/10 would recommend
Joni and her husband were helpful and courteous, they gave us plenty of privacy while also being friendly and sparking conversation in passing. The site was peaceful and had all the amenities for a great weekend camping.
Peaceful stay over holiday weekend
Joni and Phil (?) were super funny and nice! The property was quiet and well manicured and we even had great cell service while there (AT&T). Although there weren’t any showers onsite, we drove to Marquette after our stay and spent the afternoon swimming in Lake Superior at South Beach Park (Dog beach) as well as took a drive around Presque Isle Park (note: no pets allowed at Presque sadly). I would highly recommend Heritage Hills to anyone looking to escape the U.P. overcrowded campgrounds and have a self sufficient camping set up.
A perfect getaway experience
This place is magical! Living in the city, this was a perfect getaway-from-it-all place, a place where my kids could roam around and explore nature (the definition of free range kids). The horses were a bonus as my kids have never really been up close to them before. We brought our bikes and were pleasantly surprised by all the incredible single track biking for miles right from the camp site. We hope to visit again!
We felt 100% safe and were well received my the owners, whom were authentic, friendly and generous.
Peaceful, simple, and nature-rich
Joni was a friendly and helpful host, and she made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. When we arrived, she provided us with details about the property and amenities that were offered, and her husband dropped off free firewood for us at our firepit, which was super helpful.
The nature and privacy of this lot was enjoyable, but the mosquitos were horrible, so definitely bring bug spray with you. Also, the road to get to the campsite was pretty bumpy so keep this in mind if you're driving an old car. Other than that, Joni and her husband were kind and helpful, and if you want a peaceful and secluded camp site near the UP, this is a great spot.
Peaceful and private
SOOOO much better than a State Campground. Very welcoming and private. My favorite site when we went up to the U.P. I wish we could have stayed longer. Bring some carrots as you can pet the horse's up front :)
