Our property sits just downriver from the Haehnle wildlife sanctuary, a 500 acre park of mixed trails, forests, and gorgeous veiws of the Sandhill Crane nesting area. Each spring and fall tens of thousands of Sandhill Cranes migrate over our property. During the summer months, Cranes, Great Blue Herons, and Egrets call your camping area home. Along with several species of turtles, and dozens of rare migratory birds, not often seen outside their natural breeding area, means when you stay here, you are guaranteed to hear and see a whole host of new birds and songs. You will be a 3 minute walk from the Portage River, which meets up with The Grand River just a few miles down. You can fish on our property, feel free to keep anything you catch. You are only 10 minutes from the Waterloo State Rec Area, which has many lakes, rivers, and a nice beach to choose from. Not to mention many miles of trails, connecting Waterloo to the Pinckney State Rec Area, making multi day hiking and biking trips very possible. There are endless, unique opportunities just outside your tent in this beautiful and relatively missed part of pure Michigan. You are 5 minutes from Sandhill Crane Winery and Cafe, and 10 minutes from 2 other vineyards. 15 minutes from West texas bbq, which is the best bbq in the state, and some of the best in the country. You are only 15 minutes from Downtown Jackson, 30 minutes from historic Downtown Chelsea, and 40 minutes from Ann Arbor. We are in our 5th year of farming, and have been living here in Jackson for less than 2 years. Our property is extremely rich in wildlife, despite being so close to civilization. We have a 7 acre floodplain, which is only available for camping for 2-3 months each year, we have very limited camping sites, so you are guaranteed solitude and a feeling of being surrounded by nature. Both my wife and I have always hated the typical campground experience, and we plan to make our camping experience everything that is lacking with the typical campground. If you dont want to be around people, and want to fall asleep to the sound of thousands of sandhill cranes and frogs, you will love our property. There is literally something for everyone! Add-ons - the following services can be paid for when you are here - Delivery of luggage/gear to your site for you - Fire wood bundles - Farm tours, short and advanced - Cleaning and fileting your fish - Bug spray - not guaranteed in stock -
