Thoroughly enjoyed the few nights we had the chance to spend at Firefly Woods. The Gazauna was quite the surprise of space. This is a great place for dark skies for star gazing. The pond was very active with frogs, turtles and a place to catch the turkeys and deer getting a drink of water.
Appreciated the ability to have a place to clean up and the with the extra water they provided. We are experienced campers and came prepared but having extra water and the outdoor potty was a pleasant surprise. The use of the electricity was located close to the camping spot and the wood shed was filled abundantly. We were able to create some great meals over the fire while enjoying the glimmer of the pond.
We walked the trails on the property after evening meals and was a nice way to stretch the legs before bedtime without having to walk on roads.
Dana’s parents were great hosts and even ensured we were aware of road closures for our day trips.
We spent a lot of time driving around the Baraga Plains and to Sturgeon Gorge area. This location would be ideal for those who would like to off road and Snowmobile as the trail connector is so close.
The location was easy to find, town is close by and had all that one would need.

Imagine you’re at a nice state campground with electric hookups. Now add on 6 acres to your site with no visible neighbors at your border. Add on a dedicated campground host who greets you, shows you the ropes, and then disappears (though still just a phone call and short drive away if you need ANYTHING). Now add on a sauna with a dining room as your anteroom. Add on free firewood (LOTS of it). Add on the prefect setting complete with a private looking pond. Now you have arrived at Firefly. Let the memory reel roll, because you about to capture memories like fireflies—glowing and captivating.
The single campsite is surrounded by 160 acres owned by Dana’s parents, the campground hosts. John, Dana’s dad, is warm, welcoming and the perfect Up-North gentlemen. This place is HipCamp at its best. Can’t say enough good about it. Go for it!
It was a lovely, private space with beautiful surroundings. The gazauna was incredible, saunaing was a treat. Exceeds expectations!
Firefly Camp and Sauna was absolutely perfect! We loved the gazauna and beauty of the surrounding woods. The campfire and pond were magical. The hosts were very kind. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

We stood here for a weekend and the property was beautiful. At first we didn’t know what we could use, but everything is available to you and there’s a town about a 15 minute drive away. Dana’s parents come and check in with you when you first arrive and show you around. They are very nice and even offer to bring you more water (They have about 5 gallons to begin with). We went hiking on the expansive property and took many beautiful pictures in the woods. We brought our dogs too and they loved roaming the property. Overall is was a great experience and being able to go into the sauna at the end of the night was such a relaxing cap to the end of each day.

Wonderful three-day stay. There are too many features at this site competing for my favorite: The summer wind in the tall trees is such a soothing sound, not to mention the babbling brook, the stack of firewood and the good fireside seating options, the butterflies and turtle and the sandhill cranes we saw, the clean outhouse, and of course the unique sauna outbuilding with table and chairs for board games or indoor meals (plus delightful, clean sauna room with towels). Most of all, such kind and exceptionally hospitable hosts. A great campsite to make family vacation memories.

Firefly was an incredible place to camp! We loved being secluded in a safe and beautiful environment. The small cabin provided a nice mini home away from home, and the outhouse was very clean and so nice to have. 10/10 would recommend to anyone and everyone looking for a mid-rustic getaway!
Firefly is awesome, everything you would want and more. The perfect place for our family to enjoy the outdoors and stay safe (social distancing paradise). The gazasauna was unbelievable, we really enjoyed. Name is spot on, have not seen more fireflies in one place ever.
Its a beautiful property, and Dana & her family are super nice. Definitely go for it. First sand beach down in L'anse doesn't look like much at first, but it turns out to be private in that you fet plenty of room and its not crowded. The water is crystal clear & calm, & you can literally walk about a half mile out into the water without going over your head. We biked around the property, saw lots of dear & fireflies, and everyone we encountered was really nice. Very quiet, too.
