This was our first Hip camp visit, so we were a little unsure on how it all worked, but we lucked out by staying at Double J Ranch. It was a great time staying here and we had a wonderful time camping and exploring the surrounding area. Our hosts were very friendly and provided us a nice spot to set up our tents, where we had a great view of the sunset each night. We were also introduced to all of the animals who call Double J home. Our personal favorite was Random, the barn cat, who kept us company around the fire and would greet us in the morning. Lisa was super friendly and provided us with directions to a beautiful access point to the lake. I would recommend staying here if you are planning on visiting the area.

Firstly, the host was excellent. She was very accommodating and even offered the kids extra pony rides the night before we left. Whatever we needed it was clear that they were willing to provide.

Now the bad. I know not all farms are pretty, but this place was a dump. There was junk nearly everywhere you looked. We wouldn't let the kids wander off over concerns for their safety. Also at some point a large dog was roaming around the campsite. This dog looked to have mange, or at least not well taken care of. We waited for it to leave before we left the camper.

I wouldn't discourage anyone else from staying here. It just wasn't what we hoped for.
