Glowing autumn colors abound.  The farm and the Berkshires are alight with natural beauty.  Fall camping is at it's best: crisp and invigorating.  Two different and separate, secluded tent sites are dotted around the farm. Each with it's own charm: 1) PondSide and 2) FieldEdge (aka Idaho).  If you prefer a roof over your head, check the Hidden Cabin at Moon In The Pond Farm

Moon In The Pond is a small farm nestled on a quiet and picturesque dirt road in the southern Berkshire hills in Sheffield, Massachusetts. Raising food naturally and sharing the experience has been a strong and growing commitment throughout the farm’s 23-year history. Through production and education Moon In The Pond maintains a strong focus on the elegant integration of historic and modern technology. The farm is situated on preserved land that is surrounded by thousands of acres of wild, conserved land (in part owned by The Nature Conservancy). Adjacent to the farm, as well as dirt-road-hiking distance and driving distance nearby are numerous marked hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail and several offshoots. Also in the neighborhood are canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, off-road, dirt-road and country-road biking, snowshoeing, cc skiing and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. As an alternative cultural mecca there are numerous other entertainment opportunities from fine dining to yoga, art and music. It's still amazingly quiet and the milky way is clearly viewed.

Add a couple of weekdays at a 25% discount.

There’s a wonderful hiking trail that starts at a trailhead ½ mile north of here on our road, Barnum Street: The Nature Conservancy Rodger and Virginia Drury Trail. The trail starts at the road, goes through the woods, then intersects a corner of our farm field (where you can jump on or off from the farm/your campsite) and goes down to Schneob Brook. Rodger and Virginia Drury were the farmers on this land 1945-1985.

We had a blast!!! Such a nice place. In the middle of nowhere, apart from WiFi and phone signals. This place is a jewel for people who look for absolute peace. If you wish to check out the town near by, don't forget to enjoy the local tapas cuisine.

camping in here was a great experience. a little chilly this time of the year but we had a great tendFinding wood for a controlled fire took no time.

One of the best experiences in my recent camping. Took my three-year-old son on his first camping trip ever! As any father wishes - you just want to have all things set up right for the magic to happen, for the magic to happened!

On arrival, the farm is beautiful and very well set up. The campsite is walking distance from the farm and isolated enough to feel in sync with nature. We camped by the pond and to our surprise, we had the most amazing firefly show at night with a background frog symphony. Marshmallows around the fire and just good company.

Hospitality was great, Dom (owner) gave us a great tour of the farm. We met all the animals and got to know his farming philosophy.

I would unmistakably recommend the Moon in the Pond Farm for all of you how are looking for a nice easy first encounter with camping and nature. Easy access, walking distance from the car, great hospitality and best of all great environment.

I will be back!

Dominic and his Moon In the Pond Farm are a real treasure.

For those seeking a quiet camping experience surrounded by an incredibly varied landscape nestled amongst an amazingly diverse organic farm, look no further.

Also, no need to pack in a lot of food because Dom has it right there for the choosing.

Trust us, try the bacon.

My boyfriend and I had a great time camping here! It was a beautiful little farm (with very cute animals!) and our site felt very private without being difficult to access. Dom was very helpful. too. It's a great jumping off point to do and see a lot of greatl things in the surrounding areas. We were able to swim, fish, hike, and take a scenic drive in one day. I hope to come back and stay longer one day!

Dominic is a great host who takes good care of his farm and guests. He was happy to show us around the place which is set on a bucolic, rolling landscape fit for a movie set. Our camp site was nicely tucked away but an easy walk from the road. Highly recommended. Would definitely come back.

What a great experience! Our planned weekend of camping was thrown off course after discovering the CT State Parks had closed early for the season (budget cuts). Luckily we discovered Dominick and his beatifiul farm. Upon arriving we first found Dylan, a farm hand, who provided a very educational tour of the farm for my two boys (4 & 7), including background on each of the animals and vegetable crops. His passion for the process and the importance of organic farming completely engaged the boys . We camped in one of the large grazing fields - beautiful and private. Note you can drive to the field to drop off your gear - just can't leave your car there (it is parked a few hundred yards away by the 1700's farm house). Dominick was also a great host - full of positive energy and great stories to entertain the children. He also set us up with a grill and charcoal (for a small fee) because fires were not allowed due to the drought.

There was a great hike right on the property too - probably 2 miles through varied terrain down to a river. The boys loved the long boardwalk that led across the wetland area (where they saw many newts).

Overall a wonderful experience - so much more beautiful and memorable than a campground. We will be back.

The only secluded campsite on memorial day weekend! Our campsite included a fire pit, view of the huge pond, with pigs, cows, and sheep all within walking distance. Dom was an amazing host recommending hiking trails and towns to visit. The ability to use the farmhouse's bathroom was a definite plus! We would absolutely go back and recommend to friends.

Moon in the Pond Farm was a perfect escape from the city! We were able to camp on the edge of a gorgeous field which lit up with lightening bugs as the sun went down. The farm is surrounded by nature preserves so there are many beautiful walks you can take without getting in your car. The pig even had piglets while we were there! They have farm fresh eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheese for sale so be sure to take advantage of that! We would highly recommend this beautiful little farm.
