There is a shared indoor bathroom/shower which you can use for a warm shower, washer/dryer, mini fridge and microwave in the cottage. It is very basic but a great escape if needed from the rain or cold weather. The ocean and cute little down town are less than a mile walk (sidewalks most of the way). See the photos of our adorable pizza parlor, mini grocery store, upscale clothing and a hardware store are just part of the quaint town. There is the largest private garden/park on the cape which is open to the public. My lot is wooded and not manicured so hammocks can be set up.

My boyfriend and I had such a fun little getaway at Carole's. There is a cleared area right as you drive in where we set up a tent and parked the car, plenty of space. Further into the property, there is a cabin rental, fire pit, grill, chairs/benches, and Carole's own house, all directly in front of a beautiful pond. We spent most of our time fishing the pond, it was definitely abundant and super fun! During our stay we were welcomed to a full bathroom and kitchen inside the rental (a very short distance from the tent) which was super convenient. Stovetop, microwave, fridge... even a washer/dryer! Unfortunately our stay was pretty short and sweet, so we remained on the property our whole stay, but there is definitely a lot to explore around the town! Such a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood. Thanks again Carole!
We stayed at Carole’s for a whole week and absolutely loved our stay. The property is beautiful; it is located near a peaceful lake which we had full access to and enjoyed every day. We also had access to a canoe which was lovely , a full kitchen, a clean bathroom and a nice patio. We had everything we needed and more ! Carole is a great host, she was always available for us and very generous. The beach was also very near : a short bike ride away.
Osterville is a sweet town, with everything you need nearby. We definitely recommend this camper’s paradise and hope to come back!
Wow! What an experience. Although we did sleep in a tent (nice site, good visual privacy from the main house), we felt like we were on a top dollar beach rental vacation. The access to amenities was incredible.
Carole was a super host! She gave us access to a full kitchen in the guest house, as well as a bathroom and shower. These two things made our stay so comfortable. It was like camping in a friends yard.
The lake, deck, and canoe were incredibly serene (romantic?). The water was so clear you could see golf balls at the bottom of the lake, and thousands of freshwater jelly fish. They DO NOT STING, but they are beautiful.
There are many beaches nearby! No car needed here, for the adventurous. We were able to bike to three different towns and 5 different beaches. We rented a two person bike from Corner Cycle (excellent experience https://www.cornercycle.com/about/hybrid-trailer-rentals-pg60.htm )
Nearby Osterville (literally walking distance - 10 minute walk) has everything you need for groceries and coffee shops. It has a nice main street with a few boutiques.
Great stay in Osterville! Carole let us borrow the canoe to go out on the pond, and was very responsive and helpful. A lovely spot that smelled heavenly surrounded by woods and her garden.
If you want to be on a beautiful pond, swimming and paddleboarding, that most people don't have access to, this is for you. If you like a friendly host who is warm and helpful, this is for you. An easy jaunt from the city, it's a welcome getaway.
Freshwater cape fishing at its best
What a fun spot, in a great location -- right on a gorgeous, Cape pond, close to town, and beaches. My son and I camped for a few days, and had a great time fishing the pond (successfully!) for largemouth bass. Carole let us use the canoe, and could not have been a nicer host. Good experience all around.
We stayed at Carole's site for 3 nights over Labor Day weekend and had a great time. The location was perfect for exploring Cape Cod and we used it as a basecamp for day trips to Martha's Vineyard and Ptown. The site itself may have moved slightly from the pictures as you can no longer drive right up to it. However, it's probably less than 50 feet from the parking spot, so that's not really a problem. The site itself was pretty private, with a great view of the pond (site is only steps from it). There is a golf course next door so occasionally you hear a golf cart buzz by, but it's sufficiently wooded that you rarely see them. There were a few tables and access to the boat house for storing anything in case of rain. The site isn't huge, so a larger tent may require some rearranging to find a good flat spot. The bathroom, kitchen, and fire pit area were all in great condition and shared amongst campers (just us) and Carole's airbnb guests staying in the house, of which there were a few while we were there. Overall, we had a good time and would recommend this spot.
