Edible Landscape Farm
BECAUSE OF COVID19, WE ARE CURRENTLY ONLY ACCEPTING GUESTS WHO HAVE THEIR OWN SELF-CONTAINED camping VEHICLES WITH TOILETING FACILITIES. NO COMMUNAL AMENITIES ARE AVAILABLE. THE PRIVY IS CLOSED. If you are tenting, you MUST have your own portable potty with which you carry away your human waste. Waste is one of the ways CoVid19 spreads. I repeat the public privy is closed.

Edible Landscape Farm is a rural home, located an hour and a half from both metro DC and Baltimore. Several National Parks are close enough for day trips, and two are less than 10 miles away.
There are so many adventures, both commercial and non-commercial, that it's hard to know what to list. We'll give you a smattering of the possibilities.
We are a great spot for bicyclists -- 2 miles from C&O Canal. We're convenient for those who are cycling the Great Allegany Passage from Pittsburgh to D. C. and want a restful night off the beaten path.
Also, this area hosts long distance bicycle races, so if you want to put in time training on challenging terrain, this is your spot.
We love people who camp with horses -- Ride the C&O Canal or Antietam Battlefield. You will have to trailer your horses to the nearby riding sites. While at our home overnight, you can tie your horses to your trailer or bring your own temp corral. Water for your buckets is available. Temporary hitching post provided.
With advance planning, we can rent our entire camping area to horse camping groups, so several friends can camp and ride together in our region.
Welcome to Civil War Buffs -- Our camp site is close to Antietam, Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, Sharpsburg -- and Gettysburg is within day trip range! You can't experience it all in a single weekend because there's so much to take in.
Check Antietam Battlefield's events calendar for re-enactments, July 4th fireworks, and other spectacular events.
A cool place unknown to many is Fort Frederick State Park, home to an amazing stone fort built in the 1700's! They host re-enactments, cannon firings and fort tours. The park is a 20 minute drive from our camp.
Are you a Power Boater or Paddler? For easy access, the Boat Ramp for the navigable portion of the Potomac River at Big Slackwater -- a part of C&O Canal Natl Park -- is 3 miles away. Power Boats must have current registration. Rangers will check. There is FREE RIVER Access at two locatons, one above the dam and one below the dam.
Don't own a boat? There are commercial canoeing and rafting rental businesses close by.
Wineries and breweries are everywhere in the region (MD-VA-WV) and too numerous to mention individually. Talk to us about your interests and we'll try to steer you to what you may be looking for.
Live Theatre Buffs -- Shepherdstown, WV's Contemporary American Theatre Festival - 15 min drive away. This is a highly acclaimed seasonal event.
Artists and Authors -- Find inspiration in scenic Maryland farmland, old Civil War era stone walls and stone arch bridges, historical libraries and towns.
Nora Roberts fans can tour the hometown of the author and visit her book store in Boonsboro, MD, a short drive away.
Gardener's and Natural Medicine Students will appreciate that the campsite is surrounded by grounds with the owner's emphasis on edible landscape, foraging edibles, and natural medicinal plants. An educational lecture available for a fee. Farm is still under development.
Camping is primitive. Each tent site has a fire ring that can only be used in low wind conditions and non-drought seasons for fire safety.
You are camping in a rural neighborhood, so horses, cows, goats and chickens live nearby. Because you are in the country, roosters crow, cows low in the distance, hawks cry, owls hoot. Fresh eggs and farm produce are available from many sources locally.
We are pet-friendly with a provision. If your dog doesn't know how to relax around unfamiliar animals and people, please leave the pet home for everyone's safety and pleasure.
The neighboring houses are spaced out, but within sight. In order to be good neighbors, we ask our campers to quiet down to ultra soft voices at 9 pm, and be silent after 10 pm. Please respect private property and your camping neighbors.
- Check in: After 2PM
- Check out: Before 11AM
- Cancellation policy: Moderate
- On arrival: Meet and greet
- Minimum nights: 1 night
- Accepts bookings: 3 months out

What a great place to stay! We were passing through and could only stay one night and it was exactly what we needed to break up the long driving. Very peaceful place and we'll definitely be back. Thanks for the warm welcome Fay!
Spent a quiet evening here. Was nice because our well behaved dogs were able to be off leash without causing problems. Fay also gave accurate directions to a bike path that was usable by kids.

Thank you for being wonderful guests! I hope I get to see you here again with the family!
Fay was a great host. Made sure we had what we needed to make our stay fun and comfortable. Our spot was quite, comfortable and welcoming.

It was great fun having you here. We talked about a large group of your friends joining you next time. I hope we get to make that happen! And don't forget to bring Widget. Max and I will entertain her while you and your friends explore all the amazing things to do around here.
Fay was there to meet me as I pulled in. She was friendly and charming and a fount of knowledge about local attractions, eateries and great spots along the C&O Canal. She also introduced me to Jake, her retired gaited horse. He was so sweet, he didn’t even mind Stan the greyhound sniffing him.
The campsite was tucked behind her barn near Jake’s pasture. There were two neighboring houses in sight, but distant enough to maintain a feeling of privacy. The animal sounds at night were amazing. I couldn’t even identify some of what I heard. Will definitely return to see the farm in a new season.

Awww, thank you, Megan. Loved, loved, loved having you and Stan here to enjoy the change of seasons. I hope you will come again and explore the spring season with us.
It was a nice stay, easy, quiet and easy.

John, you were a wonderful guest.
We stayed overnight at Fay’s lovely property on our way home from a camping trip with our teardrop trailer. She was very accommodating, easy to communicate with and respectful of our privacy. We’d love to come back sometime to explore the area, which is full of great hiking and historic sites.

You are lovely guests. My great wish is that you pass this way again. Thank you for choosing me as your host. It was my pleasure to have you here.
Day was a wonderful host. She was able to accommodate us, even on short notice! We were welcomed with a warm greeting and lay of the land. She provided us everything we needed to be have a comfortable and rustic experience. She had ample amount of firewood for use (even though it rained most of our stay), a toilet, chairs, and plenty of spots to pitch a tent. There is a road nearby with the occasional passing car but not enough to be a bother. We will be back for some stargazing;) thank you Fay!

So glad you came to stay with me! Please visit again and take advantage of some of the really fun stuff that was closed when you were here.
Fay has definitely created a land of quiet repose. She anticipated all our needs, from our exchanged texts to guide our travels, a big warm welcome when we pulled in, a beautiful safe place to park our 30’ Airstream, a lovely scenic yard to sit in, a prebuilt campfire, an informative guided walk around her edible gardens and the company of Jake, her 30 year-old horse. We hated to leave but when we did, we were relaxed, refreshed and happy.

Your thoughts here make my heart so happy. You were such wonderful guests! And my goal is for you to feel amazing at the end of your stay, so YAY! Your visit was a success! Chatting with you about the earth and its bounty was fun because you are knowledgeable already! I want to encourage you as you develop your dream in Maine. It will be perfect, I'm sure of it!
Fay is very welcoming and the tour was interesting. Great spot!

Thank you for being such a fun family to host!
