Sod that was remnants from the roof of our Phoenix building have created a quaint proportional front lawn area.

One of the greatest finds for re-purposed lumber was heart pine salvaged from the Andrew Carnegie locomotive shed; this pine has been put to use in several ways in Skya. Both the ceilings and floors are constructed out of this beautiful tight grained lumber as well as accent features in the “bunk bed” area. As in Luna Blue cabinets have been constructed out of doors collected from salvage piles with paper-stone as the countertop. Either having a cup of coffee in the morning or reading at dusk you will be serenaded by song birds on the front porch of Skya.

From the moment you arrive, Blue Moon Rising is a transformative space. Everything has been thought out with such precision, it's impossible not to have your breath taken away. Once you check in the team comes to your vehicle and grabs all your belongings to place on a golf cart. You are then driven in the cart up to your tiny home. When riding in the car there's a small road for the cart to drive and drop you off directly on the porch of your home. It feels like fairy tale!

Skya (the cabin) was absolutely wonderful. The loft bed area over looking the kitchen makes for an interactive space. The trails on the property are gorgeous and listening to birds while walking along is deeply soothing. Waking up in the morning and enjoying a cup of coffee on the porch is really all you can ask for.

At Blue Moon Rising there are several communal spaces to join and meet your neighbors. Both the welcome center and the Phoenix building have communal kitchens and large tables for family meals, games, or a cup of tea. In the fronts of Phoenix and Kaya you will find fire rings for gathering. We found these spaces to be remarkable and plan to bring our family in the future.

The location itself is arguably one of the best in the state of Maryland. Blue Moon Rising sits on the shore of Deep Creek Lake, which is a beautiful site in any season. In the summer you can rent boats, jet ski’s, etc. In the winter this turns into a skiers paradise.

If you're looking for an enjoyable destination that is sure to yield fond memories and hilarious stories, this is your place!

I think Jaz and Chaco were having a breakfast dance break in the Phoenix building. This a few you get to see all day while spending time at Blue Moon Rising. You couldn't ask for a better one. The communal buildings have living roofs. This moment was special to us. In each cabin the owners provide a journal inviting campers to leave a message or summary of their time spent in the space. A pretty cool concept, while looking over others entries we ran into one by a dog!
