Hosts were great and sites felt secluded. Neighbors set off fireworks both nights and were walking around the woods late at night ~2am.

The only bad thing about the spot is the mystery smell that creeps up every so often throughout the grounds (could it be a plant with a strange rancid scent??) but it can’t be smelled from any of the sites which was nice. The spigot water was very clean and we had complete privacy

The only guess I can think of is the smell emanating from the patches of swamp. We've had a dry summer so maybe this affects it. I've noticed the smell, if it's the same thing, near my house but thought it was our septic tank. I'm reading on wetland sites that sulfur is one of the elements released in swamps so if it's a rotten egg smell, that could be it. Then we have a plant called Sweet Fern that is almost ready to harvest. I found this online : "One sniff of the pungent, turpentine-like aroma given off by the crushed leaves of this 3-foot (1m) tall shrub, and its common name, sweet-fern, will become clear."
