33 acres hosted by Jen D.
This yurt is for the nature lover looking for quiet getaway. Come to write, read, create, connect or find stillness with our spring-fed mountain brook and the forest as your mesmerizing backdrop. Enjoy this quiet respite, under a canopy of trees, and nestle into your private yurt getaway on the slopes of Pleasant Mountain. Make this your base for outdoor recreation and adventure, with hiking or (snowshoeing) trails right out side your yurt door.
This yurt is family friendly, too. Kids thrive here! Kids 8 and under are free and please let us know how many are in your group so we can set up the space accordingly.
We have a "self-check in" system. We suggest if you have never been here before, please arrive before dark. If you cannot, have a flashlight/headlamp handy upon arrival. Outdoor lighting is minimal or nonexistent, depending on conditions. You will find a map board on a tree in the parking area.
The sleeping arrangement options are as follows:
1 Queen pull out futon couch bed
"Twin over Full" bunk bed
1 real twin bed

About the land:
Our retreat sits on 33 wooded, hillside acres at the base of Pleasant Mt with private hiking trails, a crystal clear brook with dipping pools and granite sleuths and soaking pools right near by. We have a medicine wheel for a spectacular place to sit with long views of Mount Washington and the White Mountains National Forest. We border Nature Conservancy and Loon Echo Land Trust lands, forever protected from development.
Our off the grid mountain Yurt has been recognized by the State of Maine to be the first green-certified lodging facility.
There is a composting toilet is a short walk away, an outdoor fire circle, table, and hammock allow guests to rest above the brook with its healing sound.

Our neighbor is creating a permaculture garden with fruit and nut trees and organic vegetable gardens. Because of that, some of forest has been cleared on his land, which is now in eye site of the yurt. This is a work in progress and we look forward to its completion and appreciate his efforts in creating local food sources in an ecological way.
