This yurt is for the nature lover looking for quiet getaway.   Come to write, read, create, connect or find stillness  with our spring-fed mountain brook  and the forest as your mesmerizing backdrop. Enjoy this quiet respite, under a canopy of trees, and nestle into your private yurt getaway on the slopes of Pleasant Mountain.   Make this your base for outdoor recreation and adventure, with hiking or (snowshoeing) trails right out side your yurt door.  This yurt is family friendly, too. Kids thrive here! Kids 8 and under are free and please let us know how many are in your group so we can set up the space accordingly.  We have a "self-check in" system.  We suggest if you have never been here before, please arrive before dark.  If you cannot, have a flashlight/headlamp handy upon arrival.  Outdoor lighting is minimal or nonexistent, depending on conditions.  You will find a map board on a tree in the parking area.   The sleeping arrangement options are as follows: 1 Queen pull out futon couch bed "Twin over Full" bunk bed 1 real twin bed The Mt Brook Yurt is part of a green retreat center, Nurture Through Nature, which also offers group retreats on occasion. Based on availability and advanced booking, you may have the opportunity to add services to your getaway, such as a private wood-fired sauna session, a private customized yoga~meditation session, or a guided canoe trip from the resident Maine Guide and founder, Jen Deraspe.  All services are based on availability and advanced bookings are encouraged. You may pay on site for any confirmed services you wish to add to enrich your stay. About the land: Our retreat sits on 33 wooded, hillside acres at the base of Pleasant Mt with private hiking trails, a crystal clear brook  with dipping pools and granite sleuths and soaking pools right near by.  We have a medicine wheel for a spectacular place to sit with long views of Mount Washington and the White Mountains National Forest. We border Nature Conservancy and Loon Echo Land Trust lands, forever protected from development. Our off the grid mountain Yurt has been recognized by the State of Maine to be the first green-certified lodging facility.  There is a composting toilet is a short walk away,  an outdoor fire circle, table, and hammock allow guests to rest above the brook with its healing sound. Please note there is no running water at the yurt.  We have a warm shower for our guests created from a hybrid system with solar, wood and propane on demand for limited, mindful usage, located a 3 minute walk to the Pioneer Shower Room.  Amenities include: deck locally roasted organic coffee beans and tea  french press, coffee bean grinder, tea pot two burner propane stove for simple and basic cooking  kitchen amenities; dishes, pots and pans, utensils, pot holders hand sanitizer, dish soap, sponges ice chest for food storage (no ice on site) wood stove for heating and cooking fire wood (for indoor fires only), newspaper, kindling, matches mountain pure drinking water  jugs from our drilled well nearby swanky composting toilet (we use the composted poo to grow flowers, plants and trees :) warm showers  maps for private walking/hiking trails on 33 acres offering views of the nearby White Mountain National Forest table, camp chairs and camp fire ring IMPORTANT NOTES: You need to provide your own linens and pillow and we recommend a 20 degree F.  rated mummy sleeping bags  in fall, winter and early spring.  Mosquitoe and black fly conditions vary. Peak exposure is between Mother's Day and Father's Day. Dress in light colored and loose clothing and bring your own favorite repellant.  Our neighbor is creating a permaculture garden with fruit and nut trees and organic vegetable gardens. Because of that, some of forest has been cleared on his land, which is now in eye site of the yurt. This is a work in progress and we look forward to its completion and appreciate his efforts in creating local food sources in an ecological way.

Mountain Brook Yurt Off The Grid
We stayed here for 2 nights and were totally immersed in the nature provided by the site and the yurt itself. Everything is very well-maintained, the yurt is spacious, especially for two people. My favorite part is to hear the waterflow from the mountain and sitting along the flow for a fresh deep breath.

Mountain Brook Yurt Off The Grid
Loved our weekend up in the woods in our cozy green yurt! Bathrooms and showers were clean and the room well kept. It is a bit of a hike to bring up your luggage from the parking lot but loved how private it was~~
