We have four raised platforms, accessible by car, each with a canvas-covered A-frame, and each with a canvas/sawdust queen size futon bed in it. Each platform is nested in their own private setting around the edges of our 12-acre organic blueberry barren. Three of the platforms are fully screened-in, with stylish canvas-covered timberframes and circular red doors. One is fully covered but does not have screens. Blueberry Land is part of Smithereen Farm. Surrounded by woodlands, the barrens is on Youngs Cove Road, near Reversing Falls. This is an off grid, rustic site with only a port-a-potty. If you need to use any other amenities, you are welcome to use the WIFI, fill your water bottles, charge your electric vehicle and buy supplies at the Smithereen Farm Store (12 Little Falls Road, Pembroke). That's also where you can jump into the Pennamaquan River to cool off after exploring the town by bike. There are beautiful walking, biking and canoeing opportunities in every direction—check out Cobscook Shores, Downeast Coastal Conservancy trail by Reversing falls, Maine Coast Heritage trails on the bold coast and at Sipps Bay. Blueberry bushes are low, native, fruit-growing, covered in flowers in spring and then berries in summer, turning bright bright red in the fall when kissed by frost. Our blueberries are certified organic by MOFGA and surrounded by birch, fir, spruce and flowering perennial beds to improve insect habitat. We ask that you NOT DRIVE ON THE BERRIES! Park in the parking lot, three sites are immediately visible, the fourth site is a further drive down the road, past the port o potty, in the back field to the left. Low hung vehicles beware, if in doubt park in parking lot. Upon booking, we will send you a PDF welcome packet filled with helpful information about the farm, local sites to see, and a comprehensive list of our recommendations. Remember to prepare for MOSQUITOES in summer! We really recommend you approach Washington County as an opportunity to picnic, so bring a pocketknife, a frying pan, a big cooler for butter and milk, a big water jug, a thermos, a camp stove/kettle, warm socks, and a sense of adventure! We wish you a pleasant stay all the way DOWNEAST!Blueberry Land boasts stylish canvas-covered timberframe tent platforms with a sea breeze. Blueberry Land is indeed where we harvest our certified organic wild blueberries. Surrounded by woodlands, the barrens is located on the west side of Leighton Point Peninsula, on Youngs Cove Road, near Reversing Falls. Blueberry Land is typically very quiet, and is only active with public visitors during blueberry harvest season (July/August). It is surrounded by forest, and each camping site is nestled and private. The camping sites are platforms with triangular timberframe shelters built by Raivo Vihman @haystackjoinery. Three of the four platforms are fully weather-proof with double-lined mesh and canvas doors, eliminating bugs completely. The remaining one platform is protected from the wind and rain with canvas roofs, but the entrances remain open to the elements. If you are planning to stay in one of the platforms without the sheltered doors, bring your own tent, hammock, or mosquito netting. It is very breezy at the end of Leighton Neck, but there are still mosquitoes at night! This is an off-grid, rustic site with only a port-a-potty. If you need to use any other amenities, you are welcome to use the WIFI, parlor (and buy supplies!) at the Smithereen Farm Store (right down the road at 12 Little Falls Road, Pembroke). That's also where you can jump into the Pennamaquan River to cool off after exploring the town by bike. Blueberry Land gets the most glorious warm afternoon light. There are beautiful walking, biking and canoeing opportunities in every direction— this site is just down the road from Reversing Falls park and trails. Blueberry bushes are low-growing, covered in flowers in spring and then berries in summer, turning bright bright red in the fall when kissed by frost. Our blueberries are certified organic by MOFGA and surrounded by birch, fir, spruce and flowering perennial beds to improve insect habitat. Blueberry Land is 12 acres in total. There is lots of wildlife, and many trails through the forest to explore! Don’t leave any food out or you may find a bear in your campfire pit! These sites are first-come, first-served. You are assured a site, but we cannot assure which site will be available when you get there. Park in the parking lot, the fourth site is a further walk to the back field past the toilet. Please reach out with any questions. Upon booking, we will send you a welcome packet filled with helpful information about the farm, local sites to see, and a comprehensive list of delicious dining options and farm stores in the area. We look forward to sharing our land with you! ***** Important notes: The Smithereen Home Farm is closed to camping for the 2024 season. Some of the camper images of this property may depict the Home Farm. The Home Farm is not open for visitors outside of our scheduled public events. Please visit smithereenfarm.com/events to see when we are open for visitors. Please note that we do not accept RVs. When you feel the urge to drive north, Smithereen Farm is your destination. This was our 2nd visit and look forward to many more. Food? You’re sleeping in it. Swing by the farm store which is now open 7 days a week. It’s filled to the britches with sea vegetables, land vegetables, meats, cheeses, and other local products. Eat your dinner down the road at Reversing Falls. Drive back home with a cooler full of local goods. Activities? Greenhorns.org hosts workshops on the farm throughout the summer. Harvest wild foods and soak in outdoor seaweed baths. There’s also no shortage of outdoor activities. We spent a day hiking the Cutler Coast Fairy Head loop. Camping? On blueberry land, there are beautiful timber framed canvas tent platforms. Personally, I like sleeping in a tent sans fly so we plopped our backpacking tent next to the platform and set up a small table with chairs inside the canvas tent. Made for a lovely reading area / study.

We had a really sweet time! The blueberry land is super private and peaceful. Taryn (sp?) happened to be there when we arrived, he was very kind, welcoming, and generous, inviting us to visit the main farm for a shower and water.
