Soul Retrieve-Hill LLC

12 sites · Lodging, Tents10 acres · Sebec, ME
My husband and I bought this property in January of 2020. The main house was just a shell but, we had a vision for it. We were so excited about the history of the home and land. Bill Irwin, his family, and his dog “Orient” owned the property and stayed in the “camp house” located below while building the main house. Bill was legally blind and Orient was his guide dog. Bill and orient hiked the Appalachian trail and received awards as well as a book written called "Blind Courage.” Bill passed away before he could finish the home. We felt it would be nice to fix up the house below and make it a tribute to Bill and Orient being we had been left quite a few artifacts of theirs. Unfortunately after looking into fixing it up, it was suggested to tear it down. Then we made the decision to clean up the land for campers. We hope people can come enjoy the peacefulness that we have so much enjoyed for the past 3 years. We have fiber wifi access throughout the property and a full community kitchen, shower room, and sitting area that is close to all of our cabins and tent sites.

Healing Tree

6 sites · RVs, Tents7 acres · Orrington, ME
Here at Healing Tree, we have intentions of peace, love, and happiness while developing a positive connection with all life. This is a residential 7 acre property in a quiet and safe neighborhood. We live in the 5 bedroom old farmhouse where you can use the bathroom if needed (until the outdoor outhouse is built). There is one tiny home on the property that might be available to camp in soon or be rented via other sites. We have a new and developing veggie garden. There is a small stream and community fireplace by the 4 first come, first serve campsites at the rear of the property. A tent can be set up anywhere on the 7 acres and does not need to be in the designated campsite area. Car camping, van life and RVs also welcome! Another firepit is closer to the garden. There are some lightly wooded areas, apple trees, a pear tree, and open field for more future gardens. We are pet friendly and there are cats and a dog that currently live here. I am a Reiki Master and can potentially offer healing sessions if that is something you may be interested in. I also travel a lot as a DJ and audio tech and might not be here, but have a self check in process and video I will send. Also, roommates are generally here. Maine Savings Amphitheatre is 15 min away (concerts in Bangor). Acadia National Park is just over 1 hour away. Bangor and Bucksport are both about 15 min away. Fort Knox is about 20 min away. From the campsites here, the road and house are not visible. *At the moment, this is rustic camping in the yard. This is not a campground or upscale facility. Please be ready to be self sufficient and sustainable in any weather. Well water is available and passes all tests - pure and safe for drinking. I am very flexible and accommodating to ideas outside of "the box", just message me. There have been several wonderful campers who have stayed and enjoyed themselves, some have left amazing reviews. Thank You. We have hosted up to 20 people at once and as few as 1. Sometimes we get campers who are going to a concert in Bangor which is awesome. Any hours coming and going are fine! Enjoy a peaceful and private stay. 🙏

Flashing Moose river camping

2 sites · RVs, Tents1 acre · Caratunk, ME
Learn more about this land: We are set high on the piney east bank of the Kennebec River. The view is of the setting sun over the untouched hillsides on the opposite bank or the rising sun illuminating and bringing to life that same hillside while you take your first peak of morning. The river rushes by, not a house to be seen. In the distance a loon frolics and sings out it's soulful call. Bald eagles soar over head, fishing, scanning the river valley. Owls hooting in the valley, come closer in the night to see who is still up. There is an echo in the darkness, works during the day too. The stars blaze overhead in the night sky, watch "satellites" track across heavens and the Aurora Borealis, if you are lucky and still up around the camp fire. It is here in front of our camp, where The Kennebec River continues to flow but begins slowing down, stacking up depth behind the Moscow Dam and turning into Wyman Lake, 14 miles of the most scenic boating or paddling you can imagine. 200 yards north of the camp, The Appalachian Trail crosses the river, watch hikers waiting for the famous canoe ferry crossing. Or, hike a section of the trail, Pierce Pond is a healthy 2 hr hike from the camp, to a pristine pond for a remote dip or some fishing. Bring that kayak or stand up paddle board you bought way back when. The river is fun right here, explore for an hour, a day or days. Whitewater rafting, kayaking and canoeing are huge in West Forks, (10 minutes North up 201, watch out for deer and moose) you'll paddle The Dead, The Kennebec and the Penobscot rivers, all the major tour companies are very local and there are cool bars and restaurants. You can tube down from the Forks right to the cabin in a couple of hours. We have a big Glamping tent on the property too, that is listed separately, rent it too if you want the space for friends or the place all to yourselves.

The best camping near Peaks-Kenny State Park guide

Overview

About

Looking for a beach of golden sands and clear azure waters? Head inland to Peaks-Kenny Stae Park on the shores of Sebec Lake! It may seem counterintuitive at first, but some of Maine’s best beaches are not on the coast. Here you will have a wide expanse of sandy beach that offers spectacular views to Borestone Mountain. Visitors have all the perks of beach life plus opportunities for boating, fishing, camping, and hiking. At night start a fire beneath the large and looming granite boulders, cook up some tasty trout, and look up to that mighty frying pan in the sky.

Notable campgrounds

  • South Cove Campground: Enjoy a serene camping experience with easy access to a sandy beach and picturesque lake views.
  • Lakeside Campground: Settle in among the towering pines and wake to the gentle lapping of Sebec Lake's waters.
  • Birch Grove Campground: A family-friendly option with playgrounds nearby and ample opportunities for wildlife watching.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early through the State Park Reservations Office or online, especially for peak summer dates.
  • Consider a midweek stay for better availability and a quieter camping experience.
  • Keep an eye on cancellation policies for last-minute openings at this popular destination.
  • Explore nearby camping options if your preferred dates are not available at Peaks-Kenny State Park.

When to go

The idyllic months of May through October offer the best of Peaks-Kenny State Park, with warm weather perfect for lake activities and hiking. The park's peak season is summer, so plan for early arrivals to secure a spot. Off-season visitors can enjoy the park's tranquility, though facilities are limited.

Know before you go

  • Check for access updates before planning your visit.
  • Remember that park rules require pets to be on a leash no longer than 4 feet at all times.
  • For a smooth entry, arrive before 11am during busy summer months to avoid lines.
  • Be mindful of the local wildlife by observing from a distance and not feeding the animals.
  • Prepare for black flies and mosquitoes in early summer, and always check for ticks after exploring.
