El Floretta is a classic 1950s sportsman's camp located on the shore of Long Pond that offers excellent fishing, paddling, swimming, and wildlife viewing. The cabin is conveniently located 8 miles from the town of Bucksport which has a grocery store, hardware store, ice cream shop, restaurants, laundromat, etc.  Acadia National Park is less than an hour away. There are good hikes, flea markets and antiques, and good dining in the area. The towns of Belfast, Castine, Blue Hill, Brooklin, Deer Isle, Stonington and Ellsworth are within 30-40 minutes, as is Bangor airport (BGR).  Furnished with a table and chairs and a full-size bed--plus lots of windows to open for fresh air and water views. In the kitchen are plates, glassware, utensils, pots and pans, and french press. Hammock, Adirondack chairs, dock, canoe and kayak, life jackets, and paddles are available for your use.  There are fishing rods and some tackle available.   Hot and cold water (subject to freezing temps), indoor and outdoor sinks, outdoor shower, electricity, heater for chilly mornings, gas range, refrigerator/freezer, charcoal grill, and a composting toilet in an outhouse.  While there is no wifi, cell reception is generally good and we have had great success using our phones as wifi hotspots for computer wifi access. The camp is situated between the road and the pond, and stairs lead down from the parking area to the cabin, and then a few more wooden steps to the dock and shore.  Note: please bring your own linens -- towels, kitchen towels, and bed linens (you'll need a full-size sheet set, blanket, 4 pillow cases) and drinking water.

    Absolutely Amazing
    What an absolutely wonderful cabin! We had the best time kayaking on the lake, hanging in the cabin, and watching the Autumn leaves fall. Our dog loved it too! I highly recommend this cabin - you will have a great time! Frank was a very helpful host.

    This location is beautiful! Unfortunately we had really rainy weather so we spent a lot more time in the cabin than we had planned but it was really cozy and the sound of the rain on the roof was soothing. The cabin is very well insulated and we were never cold which was a relief. The host is great and communicative. Would highly recommend this Hipcamp.

    Great cabin, peaceful setting.
    We had a fantastic time at the cabin. Perfect for our small family. Like all the reviews before, the atmosphere was peaceful with no complaints. Our 2 outdoorsy kids(8 and 11) loved the cabin. All we added was an inflatable mattress and we were all set. We loved fishing everyday, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. We took a couple of daytrips to the seashore but were perfectly happy staying at the cabin. The cabin has one of the coolest firepits we've ever seen and we ended most nights beside it relaxing and watching the pond. Great memories to cherish with our kids. Highly recommend.

    Amazing, relaxing and the best!
    El Floretta was a perfect fit for us. Beautiful location on the water, music of loons calling in the air and amazing sunsets across the lake. The cabin had everything we needed and lots of personal touches. The shelves were loaded with a wide variety of books to entertain you on a rainy day. We alternated between cooking inside and grilling outside, but always ate outside, then enjoyed an evening campfire. I loved paddling the kayak, while Bob tried his hand with the fishing equipment. Frank was an awesome host, promptly answering all my questions. I would highly recommend it.

    Beautiful cabin with so much charm and everything you need for a cozy stay! The pond is gorgeous and so peaceful. A wonderful stay & lovely, attentive hosts! Thank you Frank & Sandy!
