Our 4 night stay at 4 Acre Campground was awesome!! We loved the location, it was very private and quiet, but just a short walk down the road led us to the lobstermen’s dock and beautiful coastline. It was close enough to Blue Hill and surrounding towns for delicious food and beautiful sights along the way. We even made it to Acadia National Park and thoroughly enjoyed the drive. Our kids loved running around “the loop” of the campground and swinging on the swing set, and Wolf (the manager) was super accommodating and kind to our kiddos. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Maine!!
Great campsite and great host!
You can't beat this for near-Acadia camping, Wolf creates a great culture and clearly cares about the camping community. Facilities are awesome. The area right near the site is incredibly beautiful as well. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for pet-friendly and peaceful camping
Best camping experience I’ve had by far. Wolf was extremely kind and helpful during our stay. He showed us a trail to a private beach area and it was absolutely beautiful. There was a family staying at the campground as well and he was very engaging and social with the kids which was great to see. Hope to be back in the future!
Truly a beautiful place to stay! The campground was well-maintained, private, and only a few minutes away from amazing views. Will definitely stay there on my next trip to Maine!
Peaceful place, low key camping
Four Acre Woods is a small, quiet camp ground located on a secluded section of Deer Isle. The island itself is a wonderful place to be and this spot is far from the roads going to Stonington and away from most of the traffic. The layout is a U shaped loop with camp sites separated by a bit of tree cover.
This had previously been a camp ground but the land sat unused for a decade until this year when it opened under new, enthusiastic management. Wolf is a great caretaker who understands the value of such a peaceful spot and who has done a good deal of work to carve it out of the woods. There was a bathroom with a shower and a toilet and there was firewood available. From my site I could see several others but there was plenty of privacy and it was much nicer than one of the larger, state run campgrounds.
I came with my brother and we rode our bikes all over the island. I'd recommend biking over to Reach Rd. and making a loop around the top half of Deer Isle. . We biked that and then to Stonington and by the end of the day we were exhausted.
This was a great place to stay and I'll definitely come back at some point!
Relaxing stay at 4 acre woods
Perfect location off the beaten path to relax and reconnect with nature. The sites are close but feel private. Wolf was a great host and recommended some hiking trails in the area. There's lots to do on Deer Isle but it's also close enough for a day trip to Acadia. This place is a gem - can't wait to come back!
Book this place. do it! do it now.
Would 1000% reccomend this site to anyone looking to camp near Acadia NP. Place. kicks. Ass. As opposed to other hipcamp sites where you might be in somones backyard, this is an actual full campground. Its got everything you could need, with bathrooms, showers, and water and electric at your site. was great for my group of friends (recent college grads) but families clearly really enjoy the spot as well. The sites have more than enough space to tent and the campground is cozy and quite. The location (if visiting Acadia) might deter you b/c its a 1.2 hour drive but don't let it! Deer Isle is cool as hell with beautiful islands, scenic drives, beaches and scenery that looks like an oil painting. The area is especially good for star gazing and honestly, was as good as the park itself (and the drive isn't so bad). Also, Wolf (the campground manager) was friendly and wlecoming. A fantastic presence to have at the site. Don't sleep on this place!
Excellent would recommend!!!
The host, Wolf, was very friendly and very helpful with site seeing and local treasures. We 100% will be going back if we ever make it up that way again. The site was clean and well maintained with electric and running water at each site and a bathhouse for showering and using the restroom.
