I came to Mount Desert Island and immediately fell in love with Balsam Way. I loved the way it felt traveling down 102A like I was going to the end of the earth. In the summer when the rest of the Island is hot, a mist rolls in and blankets everything in a cool white cloud. This is why I named the property Myst Haven. Wonderland and Ships Harbor Nature trail are nearby and I feel so lucky to be able to experience this natural beauty on a daily basis. The Bass Harbor Lighthouse is the only lighthouse on the island and is on 102A as well. Stay on the quiet side when Bar Harbor is packed with people. **PLEASE BE KIND TO THE ANIMALS AND PUT YOUR TRASH IN THE DUMPSTER AND YOUR RETURNABLES (GREEN BAG) NEXT TO IT WHEN YOU LEAVE. There are trash bags and green returnable bags at the location along with separate cans. DO NOT LEAVE TRASH IN THE CAN WITHOUT A BAG. 2023: Closed permanently. Thank you so much to everyone who visited over the years! Nancy 2022: Thank you so much to everyone who visited last year. With the uncertainty of our economy I chose not to raise rates this year and while I am not there at the moment, rest assured I have someone to answer any questions and I am always a message away. Who knows, I may show up at any moment! Again as with last year the same protocols are in place. 2021: Thank you to everyone who visited in 2020! I am truly grateful for all you. This year I am looking forward to accommodating you with a few changes. The sites are adequately spaced apart to accommodate COVID-19 protocol. There is a shared porta-potty between the two campsites. In the event that both campsites are occupied I ask that you use the disinfectant wipes along with the provided gloves to wipe the door handle before entering and wipe the surface before use of the facility. Please stay 6 feet away from the other campers as much as possible. The unit will be cleaned in between campers and at random intervals. Also, please bring charcoal briquettes for the grill provided if you don't want to cook over the fire. *Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy your stay. **RUSTIC** Come pitch your large tent on this newly built tent platform (12 x 12) and enjoy the sound and smells of the ocean and close proximity to Acadia National park. Bar Harbor is a 20 minute drive from the camp site. The campsite is right off a gravel road off of a corner of my 1 acre lot tucked into the edge of the trees. Swimming nearby includes Echo Lake Beach and Long Pond Beach. *amenities include electric hookup, water, and a porta potty. I have provided 4 camp chairs. If you have more than 1 vehicle you may need to park in my driveway in the spot on the right side of the house (green ranch). Please let me know if you need anything additional and I will try to accommodate you. I usually leave campers to their solitude. ***Please make sure you read the guest reviews before you book**

Smaller, Rustic Tent Platform + Large Parking Area
Not Everything as Advertised
It was wonderful to have a safe and quiet place to stay and Nancy is a wonderful person. It turned out that the electricity was not working well and that there was not outhouse - I figured out alternatives, but did wish that I had been told ahead of time. I would stay here again just the same.

Enjoyed the escape and was happy to find this place close to the water. There were no surprises and the description accurately prepared me for what I was getting into. If you’re looking to camp close to Acadia, I highly recommend this location.

Explore Acadia
If you’re looking for that rustic camping experience maybe not the site for you. But if you’re looking for a nice quiet private place with beautiful scenery and wildlife, and a nice place to relax in the evening after a day exploring the park this is a great site. Great location easy to access the park.

Lovely location & setup! Incredibly convenient to access everything around Acadia. The setup is very convenient with access to a hose, trash, and power at the site, as well as the firepit & table. My dog and I had a wonderful time and felt it was a great fit for the area.
