ABOUT Looking for a quiet, no-frills camping experience? Pointro Campsite offers spacious sites on the scenic banks of Maroon Dam in Queensland. With basic amenities—toilets, hot showers, and firepits—Pointro is perfect for those who want to reconnect with nature. Enjoy fishing, hiking, water sports, or simply relax in the peaceful surroundings. Our bunkhouse sleeps up to 36, ideal for youth camps and group retreats. No distractions. No crowds. Just the essentials—and the beauty of the outdoors. BOOKINGS Please note you cannot book out the entire campground. WATER There is no potable water at any of the sites. Bring your own. CARAVANS * Only 1 caravan per site allowed. BOATS Boat launch locations are available for campers at designated areas within the campsite and to comply with our SEQ Water licence: * No parking within 20 metres of the water. * Vehicles must stay on the designated road and cannot drive down to the boat ramp. * After launching, vehicles and trailers must be parked back up the hill within the Pointro boundary. * Marquees and similar structures must be at least 6 metres from the water’s edge. * Boats may be moored during the day but must be removed overnight. Breaches may result in fines from SEQ Water, which will be passed on to the responsible party. RULES - NO dogs allowed - NO travelling in the back of boats, trailers, jet skis being towed - NO travelling in the in the back of utes. - NO trail bikes. - NO Smoking. - NO excessive noise and no noise after 10pm. - NO parties. - Do Not Empty waste water on the Ground. - Max 1 Caravan per Site - Report any damage, Incidents or Hazards immediately We reserve the right to ask guests to leave the property without refund if you or they fail to follow the rules or provide false or misleading information in their booking. Lake view was a great spot to stay , plenty of room for ten people , the bass were plentiful , if you have kids I would suggest taking them for a fish down the bottom off the bank with a few worms or shrimp , the spangled perch go nuts down there and are super easy to catch

Penthouse
Pointro (Penthouse site) is an absolutely massive campsite with loads of space for multiple caravans. We had four vans and still had plenty of room, with mostly flat ground and a few gentle slopes to choose from. There’s also great shade under the trees for vehicles, swags, or just relaxing out of the heat while you set up red-claw pots, rig a fishing line or enjoy a beer with friends. The toilets and showers are quite dated, but they were clean and the hot water was reliable. There’s also hot water at the outside sinks, which made washing up easy. One bonus we didn’t notice in the listing was the industrial bins provided for rubbish, which was really handy. The only downside was the stairs leading down to the toilets. They appear to be rotting and felt unsafe, especially at night or after rain. Fixing these would make a big difference. Overall, Pointro is a pleasant, picturesque spot with easy access to the lake and amenities. We’d definitely stay again.

Not as close to the water as I would have hoped. The swimming area is a boat ramp ( not clean sand etc) lots of Karkhi weed, so kids would need shoes ALL the time. Camp site was clean and tidy, showers a good.

We saw a wide variety of wildlife, including many insects and wallabies, which made the stay feel very close to nature. Swimming in the lake was absolutely lovely, and the toilets and showers were very clean. You can really tell the owner takes great care of the campsite. It’s a place we would definitely love to visit again.

Amazing site with access to shower and toilet block. Easy access to the lakeside for swimming and to get boats in and out of water. Plenty of space at each site area. Surrounded by nature and gorgeous views! We had such a lovely experience and would definitely be back!

Fantastic site, it’s hidden away from the main area in a secluded site. Easily fit 2 cars, 2 tents and large tarp with space to spare. Just be aware you are 150m walk from the bathroom. There is also an ant nest in the camp zone so just make sure you keep any open food well sealed.

Perfect spot for camping. Booked it with only one other campsite taken, and it still felt extremely private as if we were in our own space. Owner was kind enough to lend a lighter since we forgot ours. The toilet was clean, and the lake had a surprisingly lukewarm temperature during a cloudy day in summer.

Nice grassy place, clean facilities with hot water, just have in mind that not every site has shadow from trees, like the one we picked, the ski club. Sites are big and not really that close to each other. I would say it is perfect for people with boats or jet skis, although you can hear the boats in the dam all day it is not that bad as the sites are not too close to the lake. We are definitely going back, planning already for winter, hopefully no flies during cold weather.

Beautiful quaint campsite with wallabies and gorgeous views all around of Maroon Dam and Mount Maroon. Huge campfire bins provided (we forgot firewood gutted!) so make sure you remember to get firewood, they do sell it at the campsite over the road. Lake was gorgeous for a morning dip and it’s a lovely size campground Toilets weren’t very clean and there was lots of bugs and ants which wasn’t pleasant but hot showers is a bonus. No drinking water provided so bring plenty!

We stayed at the lake view site for two nights and it was fantastic. Short walk down to the lake and spent the whole day in the lake. It was amazing sunrise by the lake too. The host/ care take was very helpful and friendly. Make sure you get all your supplies from the Boonah town ( about 20-25 minutes drive) before you get there.

I had a lovely three days at Pointro after a stressful Christmas period. The host was very kind and friendly, and the views are stunning. It is very close to the water, making it perfect for people with their own boats to have fun. However, for the same reason, it might not be ideal for those seeking complete quiet, as you can easily hear the sound of nearby boat motors. The closest town for supplies is Boonah, about a 37-minute drive. There are plenty of cafes and shops.

Well kept grounds. Access to the dam. Lots of wallabies and Roos keeping an eye on you. The Downside was people who camped in the wrong spots. In front of a gazebo and on the road path. It seems no one checks in on the campers anymore.

Another relaxing trip to my favourite spot!!! Fishing was a bit ordinary….but I blame it on the awesome full moon!!! Always a please at Pointro and although miss Bill, nice to meet our new host!!! Place is looking good and looks like it’s in very good hands!!!

We stayed at Lake View, nice and quiet and a lovely view. Heaps of wildlife, wallabies, goanna, King parrots, finches, tree frogs and the list goes on. The host is very nice and friendly. Amenities are clean with hot showers. The kids had a ball boating, fishing and swimming. We will be back.

My mates and I spent a wonderful day and night on Pointro's land. We stayed at the penthouse site, which was great for 10 friends, near a well-maintained and clean toilet and a hot shower. Finding the campsite was very convenient!

Camping at Pointo (Lake Maroon) was perfect. It's a such quiet spot and the sites are a fair distance apart. Getting our small boat on to the lake was easy. Having a few kangaroos around was a bonus. I can imagine overseas visitors loving that aspect! We will definitely be back 😊
