ABOUT Looking for a quiet, no-frills camping experience? Pointro Campsite offers spacious sites on the scenic banks of Maroon Dam in Queensland. With basic amenities, Pointro is perfect for those who want to reconnect with nature. Our bunkhouse sleeps up to 36, ideal for youth camps and group retreats. No distractions. No crowds. Just the essentials—and the beauty of the outdoors. RESPECTFUL CAMPING At Pointro, we want every guest to enjoy a relaxing, family-friendly camping experience. Our visitors come here to enjoy the peace, tranquillity, and natural beauty of the area, and we ask everyone to be considerate of fellow campers. We have a zero-tolerance policy for poor behaviour, disrespect towards other campers, excessive noise, or abuse of our caretaker, who generously volunteers her time to support Pointro. Any guest who breaches these expectations will be reported to Hipcamp and will be banned from staying at Pointro. Serious incidents may also affect their ability to continue using Hipcamp and could impact bookings at other Hipcamp locations. WATER There is no potable water at any of the sites. Bring your own. CARAVANS * Only 1 caravan per site allowed. BOATS Boat launch locations are available for campers at designated areas within the campsite and to comply with our SEQ Water licence: * No parking within 20 metres of the water. * Vehicles must stay on the designated road and cannot drive down to the boat ramp. * After launching, vehicles and trailers must be parked back up the hill within the Pointro boundary. * Marquees and similar structures must be at least 6 metres from the water’s edge. * Boats may be moored during the day but must be removed overnight. Breaches may result in fines from SEQ Water, which will be passed on to the responsible party. OTHER RULES * NO travelling in the back of boats, trailers, jet skis being towed * NO travelling in the in the back of utes. * NO trail bikes. * NO Smoking. * NO excessive noise and no noise after 10pm. * NO parties. * Do Not Empty waste water on the Ground. * Report any damage, Incidents or Hazards immediately We reserve the right to ask guests to leave the property without refund if you or they fail to follow the rules or provide false or misleading information.

THE BUNK HOUSE – POINTRO The Bunk House is a large, high-set group accommodation building suitable for camps, retreats, and group stays. It is basic but functional, with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets. I have mixed feelings about this campsite. The pros: The caretaker genuinely seems to care about the property and the guests. The bathrooms were consistently clean. The sites themselves are fairly spacious. Fire ring at each site The cons: We stayed for three nights and unfortunately had large, noisy groups every night. One group was asked to leave the next day, but another group near us remained loud despite the caretaker asking them to be considerate. Our site was quite sloped, making it difficult to find a flat area to pitch our tents. The lake is beautiful, but watercraft were running from early morning until late afternoon, which made it far from the serene, quiet weekend we were hoping for.

Unfortunately, this campground is not kids-friendly. Compared with all our previous camping experiences, this was quite unusual. Being told that we would have to leave if we could not comply made our children extremely anxious and afraid to make any noise or simply enjoy themselves.

Great Little Secret Spot

We really enjoyed our stay at the Secret Site. It was a great private spot with plenty of room to set up and relax. It was only a short walk to the water, where we could easily throw a fishing line in, which was a big plus for us. It was also pet friendly, so we were able to bring our pups along, which made the stay even better. The amenities block was pretty average, but definitely usable. It is a little bit of a walk from the Secret Site, although that didn’t bother us at all. The ground was extremely dry during our stay and there were lots of ants, so I’d recommend bringing some ant sand and a broom. Our only real negative was that some other campers were playing loud music past the 10pm quiet time, which was a little disappointing given how peaceful the area otherwise was. Overall, we had a great stay. Private, pet friendly, close enough to the water for a fish, and plenty of space. We’d happily stay at the Secret Site again.

I loved this camp spot. It was flat and had great views and some privacy. There was space between sites and the walk to the waterfront was close by. The bathrooms had all you needed and showers were warm. Peaceful location to enjoy the water and scenery.

IronBark campsite was fantastic, large enough to cater for us with ample space for a boat. Sufficient distance from other campsites which gave us privacy and we all agreed Iron bark had the best view. The amenity blocks provided everything we needed, clean nice hot showers and there was even free seasonal fruits to help ourselves to. Booking was easy, excellent communication from Pointro which made everything trouble free. Absolutely wonderful stay, highly recommended.

11/10- pointro camp ground was a great camping experience Great sized camp sites feeling like we had the place to ourselves rather then being camped side by side. Shady Campsite was absolutely beautiful, easy access to the toilets and showers, maroon dam views. Campsites with fire pits provided. Couldn’t fault our stay 🙌
