Mt Rancho (FKA La Montaña Ranch)

This was a very neat camp site, there’s a spot for your car and a little path to a private area to set up your tent that sort of overlooks a valley. There’s a picnic table as well as firewood and a fire extinguisher. I think there’s a bathroom somewhere but I never found it as I got busy once I realized I dropped my car key somewhere in the millions of rocks at sunset with an almost dead phone and only discovered it once I got to the top of the steep “hill” and had an entire spiritual event trying to find it (I was alone and car camping lol). Keep your keys secured ✌🏽

Night Sky Joy!

The Salinan site provided us a wonderful remote camping feeling. It was peaceful and wild, with an incredibly beautiful view - especially the night sky! 4-wheel drive is a must as indicated. And hosts were quite responsive and communicative. We hope to return again!

Beautiful and Spacious Ranch

Beautiful property! The directions were spot-on, and the photos were very helpful. I had no trouble finding the ranch. The road up is steep, but if you’re comfortable driving on mountain roads, it’s easy to navigate. The gate is a little tricky—and heavy—but I didn’t have any real trouble with it. The Puri site was lovely, shaded by large trees and spacious enough for both my large tent and a separate changing tent. There’s also a water spigot at the site, which was a very nice surprise! Privacy may be limited if other campers are present. The neighboring site is close enough that you can hear the other campers, although both nights were quiet after 9 p.m. Puri is also directly alongside the road, but the only passing vehicles belong to campers staying at the upper site, so traffic was minimal. Just be careful if you have pets off leash. One final tip: don’t drive your tent stakes too deeply! I had the unfortunate luck of hitting an underground ant colony—or one of their tunnels—and ended up with biting ants everywhere. Definitely not the camping adventure I had planned! The ants were in no way a reflection of the owners or the property, and the owners were incredibly understanding. In fact, they were so kind and accommodating that I’ve already booked another stay. Aside from that memorable mishap, the site itself was beautiful and very comfortable.

Perfect SLO Overlook

This spot was excellent. We needed a last minute stay and Karina & Chris came through. The location we picked had quite possibly the best view for miles. The vista for sunset viewing was also quite awesome.

The experience at Karina and Chris's was fantastic! It was easy to get to, the campsite itself was so well set up, and we had a great time. It was our son's first camping trip so we were nervous about the experience, but we couldn't have asked for a better environment for his first time sleeping in a tent. Would recommend it to anyone!

The site was amazing, running water, great nearby toilet, shower, the views were to die for, the hosts were so friendly, that drive up the mountain was new but well worth it. WOULD 100% go back again!!!! The site was secluded so it didn’t feel like their were other sites nearby. Perfect!

we had a PERFECT STAY at the Range! our site was super private, very quiet, and we had plenty of shade and gorgeous views. we loved walking to see the farm animals. the compost toilet was a short walk away too. we liked having a hose, trash can and a fire pit. the details from the host about how to arrive were very clear! we also had service at the site. overall it was such a perfect stay -- truly a gem!!

Quiet campsite for a holiday wknd

This campsite was great. We stayed at Puri- there were some steep hills on the way up, but we were fine with the Outback AWD. The sites are set far enough away that you can't see the people there, but we could hear voices that carried- it wasn't bad at all, and they stopped around midnight which is when we went to sleep too. There was a nice deep metal firepit, and they emphasized fire safety. They have firewood for sale, I think it was $20 a bundle but we brought some from Ralphs There's a wooden picnic table and a trash can. There was a distant view of the ocean, lots of tree in the way, but you could still see a nice sunset. The compost toilet was a bit of a walk down the hill, maybe 100ft? There was a flush toilet, shower and sink that was a long walk down a hill and up another hill. It was nice to have a semi-private and quiet place to camp on a holiday weekend!

What an incredible hidden gem! This was one of our favorite Hipcamp stays. The campsite felt very private, quiet, and peaceful, with beautiful panoramic views of the rolling hills and pines. We loved watching both the sunrise and sunset from camp it was absolutely stunning. The site was spacious and easily fit our trailer with plenty of room to spread out. Our kids had a blast exploring the surrounding hills, and our dog loved all the space to roam around camp. It felt like we had the whole mountain to ourselves. The drive in was straightforward, and the location struck the perfect balance between feeling remote while still being accessible. If you’re looking to disconnect, enjoy nature, and wake up to amazing scenery, this is the place. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful camping experience with incredible views. Thanks for sharing such a special spot!

Huge, private, and ranch animals!!

The Range is probably the biggest campsite we've stayed in, we had two cars, three 4-person tents super far away from each other, and a ton of room for the dogs to play with each other. Appreciate the large table under the tree as well as the table area under the car shed! Lots of sunny and shaded space available in the campsite and nowhere near any other campsites. We also loved meeting all the friendly ranch animals - pigs, goats, sheep, and dogs! Only downside is that the shower and flush toilet were a short drive from the campsite (or 10 minute walk). Super clean and great amenities. The private composting toilet at the campsite is also very clean! Kristin was extremely friendly, responsive, and overall fantastic host. Make sure to carefully look through the detailed instructions she sends you on how to get in for the smoothest entry. If coming from the North, recommend u-turning at the Santa Margarita exit rather than doing the crazy U-turn on the 101 that Google maps suggest.

Roof top tent camping

My son and I had an amazing time camping in our roof top tent. We had epic views (EPIC!). And we even had level ground which was a big plus! For anyone new to that kind of camping.. be prepared for elements up there. Wind, marine layer, drizzle, etc due to being exposed up at such an awesome view point. (There no bad weather… only bad gear). The host was super nice and easy to communicate with. If my son and I are ever back up in the area… we would book again in a heartbeat. Thank you for the amazing memories!
