It is a good idea to have a four-wheel drive vehicle or higher clearance. I don't but I know how to drive on the three miles of gravel and dirt roads coming in. I consider it an adventure every time. It's beautiful. Please consider this primitive camping and bring in everything you need including quarantine items to stay safe.

This is a very rustic location and we only were blessed with landlines in 1994. So that gives you an idea about my home. I hope you will visit me and become lifelong friends. This is Appalachia!

Beyond Yonder Sanctuary exceeded my expectations! Linda is a delightful person and a more than accommodating hostess . Upon booking with Beyond Yonder , Linda Communicated with me via text and email , without delay , providing responses to my camping questions and also providing excellent driving directions.
Beyond Yonder Sanctuary is the ideal camping location for a woman wishing to camp solo ; very safe and inviting. 21 miles and 45 minutes from Hazard , KY , there is 129 acres for hiking or atv recreation and fishing is 1/2 mile from camp . Linda’s property is both beautiful and peaceful; the gardens are amazing and from the moment you arrive , you begin to absorb the positive energy that emanates !

It’s worth noting that Linda hosts the Mountain Herb Fest the 3rd weekend of October and a Womens Retreat in May .

I very much look forward to returning to Beyond Yonder Sanctuary! It’s good for the mind , body and soul !

Sincerely,
Angella

Angella was a joy to have at Beyond Yonder Sanctuary. She gave me memories that I will treasure forever. We ended up becoming very good friends. She wanted to know if she could help me with any projects around the place and we ended up with her artwork and talent and it will be here for many years to come. I would recommend her to everyone. Yaya

Beyond Yonder was the perfect, secluded getaway my family very much needed.
Our campsite was in a shaded area, on level ground. Parking was available right next to our tent, and toilets and shower were within walking distance. A large fire pit was available close to camp with seating, wood, and weenie-roasting forks at the ready.
During our stay, my family enjoyed hiking the property, as well as swimming and fishing in a nearby lake.
Linda was a wonderfully accommodating host, even during the pandemic. Social distancing was observed, and she was kind enough to provide us with electrical access so that we could brew our own coffee (as was our preference).
We had a very enriching camping experience at Beyond Yonder. The area is very secluded and quiet, which makes it the perfect place if you would truly like to enjoy the beauty of the area. The ride in might be a little bumpy, but it is so very worth it. My family left feeling rejuvenated as we headed back to our busy lives.

I recommend beyond yonder to anyone looking for a place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty the mountains have to offer.

Yaya’s (Linda) property provides the most incredible camping experience that just can’t be replicated. To reach your destination you wind through beautiful country sides, steep overhangs, and mountain streams. Follow the directions that are given, they are incredibly helpful as is Yaya to make it to her homestead. Our family of 10 folks (4 adults & 6 kids) experienced so much. We spent time at Buckhorn lake diving off a 15 foot cliff. Hiked around hollers in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Uncovered an old well from Yaya’s childhood that gave you access to clean, cold, mountain fresh water! Bring what you need to your campsite because it is quite off the beaten path. We went into town once to grab ice, beer, and a few food supplies which takes about an hour and a half round trip.

This is a place I envision Ernest Hemingway or Jack London setting up to write their next novel; in seclusion surrounded by God’s beauty without modern distractions. The stars have never been so beautiful to me. When the darkness falls, it’s as if you’re camp chair is in space!

Now that I have mentioned just a portion of the beauty I would be remiss if I did not talk about our host Yaya. She was so helpful getting us there and telling us all of the hidden gems within this hidden gem! Her family’s history runs deep through these hills and valleys. It was a treat to spend time with her and learn about the land. We are already looking forward to our next time there!

Our family will never stay in a campground again after learning about this type of site through HipCamp! We made memories with our kids that will last a lifetime and will keep us longing for our next adventure! Best. Experience. Ever.

If you’re a strong swimmer (our kids did it) make the 1/2 mile swim to the rock cliff where Yaya’s family store used to be. The kids and dads loved jumping off the cliff into the lake.

Wow! This was the best, most relaxing camping trip of my life! There is no need to leave Yaya’s property once you’re there. All the hiking and swimming is just minutes away. My kids and I walked down to her parents well where we drew the most pure, delicious water. When will we get that opportunity again?! The kids will remember it forever.

Yaya and every member of our family were fast friends. She is an amazing story-teller and such an interesting woman with a kind heart.. She has a unique way of owning all of her femininity and her independence that was inspiring. The landscape is full of edible plants and herbs she has lovingly cared for. And her chickens live in chicken heaven! The most hooked-up chicken coop I have ever seen. Her artistic touches are all over every part of her property, down to the outhouses where colorful paint, sparkles, and glitter celebrate the beauty of being so immersed in nature. Yes, even the toilets gave me joy!

The composting toilets had no odor at all (coming from a porta-potty hater), were very close by and clean.

Yaya made us feel so welcome while we were there. She truly opened her property to us. While we enjoyed all of our time visiting as a family and getting to know her, she only was in such contact because we kept drawing her in. She was very respectful of our privacy and I’m sure that she would interact with you as much or as little as you’d like. Yaya seemed to enjoy our company, but is very socially aware and seems to want, over all, for her guests to have the experience they were looking for.

I could write a book! I do hope you’ll bring your favorite people and love Yaya’s place as much as we did.

Our trip to Beyond Yonder was a last minute decision. We needed a quick getaway (the weather was to be perfect) and all the State Parks were already booked. In the process, we ended up discovering Hipcamp and Beyond Yonder.

Beyond Yonder exceeded our expectations. We were able to be alone in the middle of nowhere and we had the sweetest host we could ever imagine; YaYa. Driving to YaYa’s home on the gravel roads can be a bit intimidating, but it is not as bad as it appears. We had no issues getting there or leaving; it only added to the excitement.

YaYa was so sweet and so gracious. She provided us options on where we could set up camp and even offered us a table and chairs and more if we wanted. We even learned a lot of interesting facts. She was a joy to be around.

We had a wonderful time exploring areas of the property and simply relaxing and basking in the sun. There’s even a Lake nearby where you can hike or drive to go swimming (which we did check out on our way out).

Only wish we had more time.

This is a beautiful, magical place. Linda was so helpful and kind. I will definitely return! She also provided a table for us to use at our site for food prep. The sites are quite private from each other so it was easy to social distance while here.
The hilly, gravel roads coming in were a bit of a struggle for a small car, but we made it :)
