I caught 7 bass out of the creek catch and released but so much fun.My daughter loved playing in the sand at the Creek. Its located close to the Cumberland Falls so you can visit. We can’t wait to come back!
Refreshing retreat on the river!
We loved our stay with Jim and Lora. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing break from our daily lives - and Summer Shoals was the perfect spot to clear our minds and enjoy nature. Jim and Lora were lovely hosts and went out of their way to make sure our stay was absolutely perfect, from providing us with dry firewood to giving us an extended personal tour of the property (we saw a tortoise snacking on a mushroom!). If you’re looking a quiet welcoming retreat on the river and also have the opportunity to hike in beautiful Appalachia, with creeks and woods, this is the place for you.
I still have a smile on my face from our experience here! Jim and Lora was amazing. They met us at the front and took us around on a wonderful tour of their property and helped us choose a site and got us all set up. My daughter's and I enjoyed chatting on the back porch with Lora while the boys fished. Then this morning as we got caught in the pouring rain this couple outdid themselves in hospitality. If you stay here you will not be disappointed. I can wait to follow their journey and see what they continue to do here. Can't wait to make it back!!
Great place. fantastic hosts
We really struck gold with Summer Shoals Retreat when my girlfriend and I went camping there for a couple of days. For starters, Jim and Lora were some of the nicest hosts I have ever had the chance to meet as they were so attentive to our needs while also making sure that the campsite was everything we expected. The entire campsite was clean and maintained. The bathrooms were even very clean and welcoming which was one of my concerns. Jim gave us an ATV tour of the 80 acres campsite just outside the Daniel Boone National Forest, and I must say the property is amazing. The trails on the site are as beautiful as you can imagine, almost as they've been untouched. Jim gave us firewood to use for our camp and clear directions to a nearby Walmart. Our experience was great and I would definitely recommend this site to anyone who wants to see Kentucky.
Wonderful this spot!
This place was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations. We cant wait to see what they do with the place over the next few years. The hosts were wonderful anf went above and beyond to make us comfortable and that we had all we needed and more. It was one of our most cherished stops on our family vacation and we cant wait to return!
Peaceful stay next to cumberland
Jim & Lora were excellent hosts with quick and responsive communication. The site was clean and well-maintained. There was free fire wood, on-site games, wifi near their house, and even ice at very low cost. It was a relaxing weekend outdoors next to the river. Would camp here again!
