An oasis on the water
This is the perfect campspot! Summer Shoals is good for families & friends, young & old. Dispersed with plenty of site options. They offer drive-up and hike-in sites. You can choose to what level of interaction or seclusion you prefer. Although we were secluded, we loved getting to know Jim & Lora too! We were right on the river with our pups and it was an absolute oasis. There was so much wildlife in the area to look at including an Eagle whose nest is right across the river. Boat rentals and plenty of trails surrounding the property. There is a toilet, water and even eggs for sale. The site owners couldn't be kinder people. We will be recommending to others & We will DEFINITELY be back!
The owners and host Jim and Lora are Amazing! We arrived early and Jim gave us a great tour of the grounds. Its so peaceful and private land!Fresh eggs were awesome for our breakfast thanks to Jim and Lora!We had the creek and river view from our site we chose. We loved fishing in the creek and the wading was so cool and refreshing. I caught 7 bass out of the creek catch and released but so much fun.My daughter loved playing in the sand at the Creek. Its located close to the Cumberland Falls so you can visit. We can’t wait to come back!
I still have a smile on my face from our experience here! Jim and Lora was amazing. They met us at the front and took us around on a wonderful tour of their property and helped us choose a site and got us all set up. My daughter's and I enjoyed chatting on the back porch with Lora while the boys fished. Then this morning as we got caught in the pouring rain this couple outdid themselves in hospitality. If you stay here you will not be disappointed. I can wait to follow their journey and see what they continue to do here. Can't wait to make it back!!
Great place. fantastic hosts
We really struck gold with Summer Shoals Retreat when my girlfriend and I went camping there for a couple of days. For starters, Jim and Lora were some of the nicest hosts I have ever had the chance to meet as they were so attentive to our needs while also making sure that the campsite was everything we expected. The entire campsite was clean and maintained. The bathrooms were even very clean and welcoming which was one of my concerns. Jim gave us an ATV tour of the 80 acres campsite just outside the Daniel Boone National Forest, and I must say the property is amazing. The trails on the site are as beautiful as you can imagine, almost as they've been untouched. Jim gave us firewood to use for our camp and clear directions to a nearby Walmart. Our experience was great and I would definitely recommend this site to anyone who wants to see Kentucky.
Wonderful this spot!
This place was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations. We cant wait to see what they do with the place over the next few years. The hosts were wonderful anf went above and beyond to make us comfortable and that we had all we needed and more. It was one of our most cherished stops on our family vacation and we cant wait to return!
Pristine camp area
Laura and Jim were fabulous hosts! The land is well maintained with plenty of privacy. We had a camp site by the river. The land is pristine, quiet, clean, and lush. The cold
Outdoor shower was perfectly refreshing after a hot day. Jim showed us the property on his John Deer Gator. Kids and adults all loved our weekend. We can’t wait to visit again! This is a family friendly camp area with a beautiful cross at the top of the hill. The peace and quiet is refreshing. There wasn’t any loud music or disturbances. Two thumbs up!
