Shinrin-yoku is the name given to the Japanese art of “forest bathing,” contemplative walks through the woods that reconnect the individual with nature and can lead to decreased stress, natural mood elevation and even a stronger immune system. This means of mobile meditation has been recognized by the Japanese government since 1982 and has been endorsed by the Forest Agency of Japan as a means of improving quality of life. The practice can be a natural way to combat the toll of stress and anxiety

Mountain Waterfall Holler

63 private acres providing exclusive access to adjoining Daniel Boone National Forest land (46,000 acres in Whitley County alone). This property is uniquely located, providing privacy and peaceful enjoyment of thousands of acres of national forest an Cane Creek Water Falls. You pick your private campsite within 63 acres for outdoor recreation. The opportunities are truly endless with miles and miles of less travel available trails returning to camp with a “tall tale” tell, and nature enthusiasts still stunned to have witnessed the American Bald Eagle while hiking. Resting on a county-maintained road, this scenic property is shielded from nearby development by the national forest and National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. This property is accommodating to many forms of camping, including those who wish to explore the national forest by horseback. There is even a trail for 9.5 miles from your campsite to Cumberland Falls trail number 2 that very few have ever traveled. This property includes flat land and cliff lines. Cane Creek crosses the property, produces a 45’ waterfall and a medium-size swimming hole and empties into the Cumberland river. This southeastern Kentucky property enjoys quick access to I-75. It is located halfway between Lexington, Kentucky and Knoxville, Tennessee. It is also located approximately halfway on I-75 between Michigan and Florida. The property is isolated from other developed property. It is not encumbered by restrictions associated with commercial camping areas or federal regulations. From your unique campsite location, there are hundreds of miles of private explorable hiking and horseback trails. Beaten down by deer, elk, bear and other wildlife trails wide and narrow lead to watering holes and cliff overhangs that once provided shelter to Native Americans. An old logging trail connecting to your campsite leads to boulders that protrude into the river, providing a unique place to sun, fish and picnic. “Backcountry” camping is permitted within the National Forest, with some restrictions. Our Off Grid Campsite does not have all these restrictions. Nearby rock walls and steep inclines tempt adventurous hikers and welcome both amateur and skilled rock climbers. On land or water, you’ll be greeted by a host of colorful birds, witness the American Bald Eagle and other predator birds and maybe if lucky spot a black bear. In addition to the recreation opportunities directly associated with your primitive campsite, quickly accessible attractors/attractions include: Cumberland Falls State Park - Laurel River Lake - Bark Camp Creek (trout stocked) - Williamsburg Golf Course - Kentucky Splash Water Park and Family Entertainment Center- Big South Fork National Park- University- just to name a few.

Patrick's Point is a welcoming and well-maintained campsite, where hosts Angelica and Patrick garner praise for their warmth and attentiveness. Campers appreciate the beautiful natural setting, with the Cumberland River and various trails adding to the charm. Visitors often mention the clean facilities and the serene environment, making it a perfect spot for relaxation. Despite some weather challenges, the hosts' accommodating nature ensures a pleasant experience for all.
We camped here this past weekend, and even with nonstop rain, it was one of the best tent camping experiences I’ve had. Angelica greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home. The ground was very soggy from the weather, and since we were tent camping, our original riverside spot wasn’t practical. Thankfully, the hosts quickly offered a great alternative.
It was just me, my teenage son, and my adult son, and we arrived later than planned. Angelica and Patrick gave us great dinner recommendations, and Patrick also shared helpful tips on local fishing and things to do. When the rain got worse, he moved us again to a drier, more solid area so we didn’t have to worry about mud or getting stuck.
The hosts were incredibly kind and accommodating, and the bathrooms and showers were spotless. Even with less-than-ideal weather, we had a great experience. We’ll definitely be back!
We had a fantastic stay! Patrick was an incredible host—warm, welcoming, and full of helpful tips. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for a family getaway. We especially loved exploring the Hero Trail with our little one—he had the best time adventuring through the woods. It was a memorable experience for all of us. If we find ourselves in Kentucky again, this spot will definitely be at the top of our list. Highly recommend!
Patrick made sure our primitive camping experience was 1st class. Greeted with a welcoming and friendly smile, he loaded our firewood into his truck and drove it up about a mile to show us his wonderful property. Definitely make sure you have 4 wheel drive if you are primitive camping. Many trails to hike and a beautiful waterfall and creek. Perfect for dogs to be off leash. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back. The best host on HipCamp.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Patricks Point. Great location for a secluded spot on the Cumberland river. Dennis and Angelica go out of there way to make sure you have everything you want or need. There is a huge pavilion that would make a great get together for friends and/or family. If you are looking for something unique, and of the beaten path, you will enjoy this place.
I had an absolutely wonderful time on Angelica's land. The sires were not too close together. The view was wonderful with the river right there at the site. There were other campers but it was not too loud. The facilities were very clean and well maintained. It's the first place I've camped at or I never had an issue with hot water! Even when it was busy my shower was hot. The grounds were maintained very well. The host and hostess were very attentive without being intrusive. They were both very kind and considerate. It was nice not having to put up my own tent and take it down to store it since it was wet. It was a very nice tent as well. I really can't say enough positive feedback about Angelica and her land. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would have to give it a 10! I went down to just check it out for future canoeing trips. I will definitely go back and exclusively use this campground when I'm canoeing on the Cumberland River above the falls. They are wonderful people with a wonderful campground! I feel very lucky to have found this place.
My family and I loved the time we spent here! Our hosts were so warm and welcoming. The kids enjoyed the super hero trail, gemstone mining, and fishing in the pond. Our 3 year old caught her first fish! We made some wonderful family memories and look forward to visiting here again!
Great escape into a haven of beauty. Truly the hosts hospitality is a gift. Gentle natured and strong spirited, my kind of folks. I'm very thankful you share your slice of heaven. Can't wait to visit again. The river, the trails, the hosts ...perfection!
Fantastic! I always love coming to stay here… It’s the high point of every summer since I discovered the place. Great people, super friendly… By far my favorite place to camp.
The property was beautiful quiet and peaceful beautiful views of wildlife the Cumberland River and the structures on the property. The Host s were very nice people made you feel like you were at home.
Amazing time! 10/10!! Very cool laidback vibe. Owners are so friendly and kind and helpful. I was there solo for one night. Met fellow campers who took me to a waterfall right on the property! I will be going back for a longer stay. 🏕️
I stayed in the river shack shelter and loved every second. Patrick the host said he was bringing in the owls that night. It was incredible. There were owls calling and landing in the trees all around us for hours. The view of the river and the sounds of wildlife were exactly what I was looking for. I had total privacy in the shelter and no one was camped near me. The property was gorgeous and there was even a waterfall to explore. I can't wait to go back again and again. I plan to stay in all of their different cabins and hope to check out their 3 mile hiking trail in the future. Patricks Point River Camp is a great place to visit.
Patrick and Angelica were very sweet and welcoming, the place was clean and they had clean bathrooms and showers as well! I was parked along the creek and it was a peaceful and beautiful campsite! Will definitely be returning in the future!
Book it. You won’t regret it! We the river shack, and it was better than we imagined. There was space for a full sized mattress on the ground (could do a queen, too I’m sure), and there were two bunks inside that we used as shelving. Fire pit had a stove-table that you could place on the fire for cooking. The breakfast was awesome! Straight from their farm! Very kind people, very relaxed campsite. Loved it!
We had a beautiful spot on the river. Loved all the hiking trails! The hosts were super-nice and very helpful when we ran into unexpected problems with our rig. We arrived as guests& left as friends.
We had a awesome stay Patrick was very nice and friendly and welcomed us and ask us all the time we were there if we needed anything. Told us about the area and and we're to visit.
The camping area was very quiet and beautiful view and surrounding differently recommended this spot to anybody.
Thank you for your hospitality
The campgrounds were absolutely gorgeous, and we had a phenomenal time. Angelica was very kind and welcoming, and Patrick was an absolute treasure of a person. Very excited to go back next season!
We went tent camping on the off-grid site for one night, and it was pretty much ideal! Plenty of firewood, we were able to find a couple good flat spots to put our tent, and the river/waterfall area are just a short hike and well worth checking out. Host was super friendly as well. Would definitely recommend!!
The campsite was beautiful! Right on the Cumberland River! The hosts went above and beyond to help us during unfortunate circumstances that left our camping equipment 5 hours behind us!! Beautiful land and beautiful people! We will be back!
Excellent camp facility. Beautiful location on the river. Host was welcoming and attentive. Would recommend for any type of camping even group bookings would have plenty of room
