Frisbee Field is a big grassy field on the bank of the slow and low Chaplin River in a beautiful secluded setting. A perfect spot to unplug and soothe your soul through the simplicity of nature. We offer canoe and kayak rentals, shaded picnic tables, a fire pit, walking paths, and a neat little art trail through the woods. We also offer porta-potties and a cute cold water garden hose shower on top of the hill during summer months. Sunsets and stargazing can be amazing and we have lots of wildlife around. Little Wing Hollow is a great place for low key folks to commune with nature, but we're not good place to party down and get rowdy. Places to see near Little Wing Hollow
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Anessa and Bo were wonderful and welcoming hosts. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. We saw owls, turtles, deer and turkeys just to name a few. The sunset on top of the Big Hill was spectacular along with the art walk through the woods. We were also fortunate the river level allowed us to paddle. A truly special place that is highly recommended.
Book your spot now!
Little Wing Hollow offers everything you want and need for an excellent camping experience. Anessa has operated Little Wing Hollow as a retreat and just recently opened it up to Hipcamp. This place is perfect if you like primitive camping and still want the convenience of parking next to your tent. If you prefer to park your vehicle and hike to the campsite, there are spots for that, as well.
You'll find everything here; hike along the Chaplin river, walks in open fields filled with wild flowers, hikes through numerous, well-maintained trails in the woods, play in the river and even rent a kayak!
There is great bird watching if your are quiet on your walks. I saw an owl by the river and a turkey hen on her nest. I didn't see any deer, but on one of my walks I heard a 'snort' from within the woods. Butterflies seem to follow you around and at night, Frisbee Field looks like fireworks are going off from all the lightening bugs. There is an artist trail with unique installations along the trail. The views are incredible; magnificent sunsets, a lazy river flowing by, and bucolic open fields.
It's evident Anessa and Beau have put a lot of love and work into Little Wing Hollow. There are super accommodating and very friendly, but leave you to explore and enjoy. Anessa even provided a copy of a hand drawn map to help navigate all the property has to offer.
Wonderful camping experience!
Primitive camping at it's best. They had a canopy sit up with tables for us to use. The jars of flowers with a bird feather was such a cute touch! Luckily the water was perfect for kayaking. We kayaked several hours the first day and cooked dinner on a little grill they had in a picnic area set up overlooking the kayak launch area where the kids was playing and swimming. There was plenty of firewood on site for a bonfire. There was no ambient light around so it was perfect for stargazing. The following day we went kayaking for a few more hours and then went on a hike. It wasn't an ordinary hike at all. At every turn there was an art exhibit and most were interactive. It was one of the coolest hikes I've ever been on and the kids loved it. I would definitely recommend going and we look forward to coming back in the future. We felt like friends not just guests and they went out of their way to make our stay accommodating. Thank you both for a great weekend and we hope to see you again soon!!
Special place, special hosts
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Little Wing Hollow. It's a special place that I highly recommend to everyone, and I definitely plan on returning!
Relaxing getaway with my daughter!
Beau and Anessa are very welcoming and amazing hosts! The area is beautiful and unique with so many artistic touches. Gorgeous view for a sunset and stargazing. Loved observing wildlife while kayaking with my daughter. Very peaceful and family friendly. Can’t wait to visit again soon!!!
If you like beautiful and serene slices of nature to camp in, and appreciate the feeling of being away from ALL of it, this is the place for you! Rarely do you hear a car, let alone planes, and only once have I heard a train late at night. Wildlife abounds both 4 legged and winged. Fellow campers are at a minimum and well spaced out, if they are there at all. The river is tremendously fun to wade in, paddle on, and swim in - I've never seen so many crawdads in one body of water which speaks to its health. The network of trails and art installations are delightful. The showerhouse is about as cute as can be, and the provided picnicing tables and carport areas are a fantastic touch if you should require them.
If a traditional campground doesn't do it for you due to crowding, noise, development, etc - and you're not quite up for backcountry camping, Little Wing Hollow hits that sweet spot in spades.
The best part? Anessa and Beau are 2 of the finest people you will ever meet, and their passion and appreciate for their farm is evident and contagious.
I'm confident you will find this place the perfect spot for an intentionally unobtrusive and (upscale) primitive escape to mother nature!
Peaceful oasis in central kentucky
Great location, the view from the Big Hill is beautiful, a perfect place to watch the sunset. Our hosts went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.
Fantastic and relaxing weekend! Very gracious and friendly hosts, plenty of camping space, fun art trail, soooo many fireflies, and beautiful setting. Not too far from Harrodsburg, we went in to town to get ice cream and dinner. Would love to come back!
