Amazing property on the edge the Daniel Boone National Forest. Beautiful quiet sites on the river side. Road in was a bit rough, but it was so worth it. Ten sites available, but on the night I stayed, I had the place to myself and slept in the car with the back gate lifted, and it was a dream. So secluded and peaceful. It's a place I'd stay at again and again if I were in the area.
BEAUTIFUL view of the river, campsites right next to the river, small simple campsites, sanded sites were super comfortable for sleeping on, and not crowded. We plan to bring our homeschooling group here for a trip in the future!
To help others prepare/ FYI:
GPS (Google maps in our case) does not take you directly there, you have to be vigilant to find it, we have AT&T and it did NOT pick up there (so we had to drive about 15 min. To get signal and find on internet/call owner), the landowner is absentee and we don't mind that at all- but if you are high maintenance you may have issues with no reception, there is no private designated rest area and signs state that "you are being photographed" (may be a concern for those that are modest), we did have some neighbors come and ask us what we were up to (residential area but you can't see homes from the camping area) they were nice to us and said they were just making sure everything was okay, there is a rooster farm near by and they do crow in the morning.
We will definitely go back and stay this summer, and do recommend it for the low key, low maintenance camper!
Amber was super accommodating and helpful! She could not have been nicer. The sites were beautiful. Most of the campsites are waterfront to Cumberland River. Sites are mostly sandy, nice and soft for tent camping, small areas can be muddy, but mostly sandy. Fire rings present at each campsite. Porta potty was clean. Pretty hike just a couple minute drive down the road with beautiful waterfall. We did not check out the boat ramp that is close by (for small boats like kayaks) because we got caught up with the hiking, but Amber said it was a only couple minutes down the road as well. Will definitely visit again in the future, so peaceful.
Short and sweet, mike is awesome
When I arrived mike was working in the field but he stopped to help me bring my stuff to the site since the road was a bit rough for my Honda. I purchased some firewood and he threw in a few beers as well. Great dude and the campsite was pretty nice too, right on the water. If I am ever back in the area I’ll look him up.
Overall great place to stay. Plenty of space for our group of 3 with 2 tents at one site. Kayak put in on site. We tried to go upstream and it was challenging. Recommend a drop off if you want to kayak there. I recommend getting your firewood from them if you don't already have some of your own because they bring you plenty for the price. Very friendly hosts and very clean port a potty. If you have a car, i would not drive down to the riverside campsites as it would be challenging. Suv and trucks shouldn't have a problem. Highly recommend and very likely to go back again.
The vivacious camp houstess/owner was very friendly and welcoming. Our site was clean and well maintained but, I wouldn't recommend camping here unless you have an four wheel or all wheel drive vehicle because the road that goes down to the campsites is steep and not even which im sure given time since this is a newer campground will be fixed. Also the port-a-potties are at the top of the hill while the campsites are at the bottom its about 500 yards away from the farthest site (10) which we stayed at to the potties. Which once again i would say given time will be fixed. They are beautiful campsites right on the Cumberland river with acess for wading, kayaking or swimming. It is close to the local pourover watering spot and hiking trails. Peaceful and quite. Over all it was a nice experience.
We had an amazing evening stopping here. The people were all incredibly nice and accommodating. They helped us with car issues which was truly a life-saver. THANK YOU for all of the kindness we found here. We will definitely be back!
