Amazing property on the edge the Daniel Boone National Forest. Beautiful quiet sites on the river side. Road in was a bit rough, but it was so worth it. Ten sites available, but on the night I stayed, I had the place to myself and slept in the car with the back gate lifted, and it was a dream. So secluded and peaceful. It's a place I'd stay at again and again if I were in the area.
BEAUTIFUL view of the river, campsites right next to the river, small simple campsites, sanded sites were super comfortable for sleeping on, and not crowded. We plan to bring our homeschooling group here for a trip in the future!
To help others prepare/ FYI:
GPS (Google maps in our case) does not take you directly there, you have to be vigilant to find it, we have AT&T and it did NOT pick up there (so we had to drive about 15 min. To get signal and find on internet/call owner), the landowner is absentee and we don't mind that at all- but if you are high maintenance you may have issues with no reception, there is no private designated rest area and signs state that "you are being photographed" (may be a concern for those that are modest), we did have some neighbors come and ask us what we were up to (residential area but you can't see homes from the camping area) they were nice to us and said they were just making sure everything was okay, there is a rooster farm near by and they do crow in the morning.
We will definitely go back and stay this summer, and do recommend it for the low key, low maintenance camper!
Great campsites along the river. Contacted the owner and asked about the campsite conditions because I knew the area was getting hit with heavy rains. Communication through Facebook messenger was great. Explained that everything was good and even gave me the number for firewood delivery. If you like adventure and travel trails the drive to the sites is just like that. The views of the river are great and it is a peaceful stay. Kids are already asking to stay here again!
The only thing I ask the next campers that stay please leave the sites better then you found it. We did walk the sites and found some trash laying around. We picked up what we could. Leave no trace!
Amber was super accommodating and helpful! She could not have been nicer. The sites were beautiful. Most of the campsites are waterfront to Cumberland River. Sites are mostly sandy, nice and soft for tent camping, small areas can be muddy, but mostly sandy. Fire rings present at each campsite. Porta potty was clean. Pretty hike just a couple minute drive down the road with beautiful waterfall. We did not check out the boat ramp that is close by (for small boats like kayaks) because we got caught up with the hiking, but Amber said it was a only couple minutes down the road as well. Will definitely visit again in the future, so peaceful.
We will be back again and again
Amazing place!! Beautiful, peaceful, and the owners are awesome. We swam, hiked the Daniel Boone National Forest & fished. The sanded sites were perfect for tent camping. The tree covered campsite is absolutely perfect, cool mornings and day shade. There is even a local guy that will deliver firewood to your campsite!!! You cant go wrong with Clayton Geneva. Thanks for a wonderful stay, we will be back again and again.
I was very happy with my camping experience at Clayton Geneva. The river was a beautiful sight right in front of our tents and our host was friendly and great to talk to and ask questions. My friends and I definitely plan on returning!
