We had a wonderful trip to Camp Kentucky! We hiked for hours with our puppy, then enjoyed a nice campfire in the evening. The host was extremely helpful - very friendly and welcoming - and there was firewood waiting for us when we arrived! The camping area is in a field, and the views were really beautiful. We will be back!

Had a “mans” weekend with my boys. Primitive camping old school style for the most part. Lots of beautiful land, plenty of wood to chop to start our fires. Occasional dog howling signaling from west to east as though they were communicating. Made for great story creation and tales around the camp fire. Not only would we all go back- but we all decided if we could afford it we would buy it. Oh to dream. Simply beautiful land. Cooked out on open fire (and some meals on our propane stove) and all stayed in 1 tent for storytelling, burping and snoring competitions. What else do you want with your boys? Oh, we hiked, shot sling shots, blowguns - cool , fun man stuff. We’ll be back. Loved it.
We had a very nice stay. Leslie was helpful giving us very clear directions and options for good places to set up camp. The land looked beautiful and I wish we had more time to explore. We did discover that to drive up to the site it would have been very helpful to have a vehicle that did better going off road than our minivan. We made it, but just barely and almost got stuck on the way out because of the rain. We also should have brought an ax or chainsaw to make cutting firewood easier, but we forgot. Other than those two things the site was very private and we enjoyed seeing the stars at night!

Honestly it wasnt what i expected at all it said 150 acres but i was driving a dodge charger and couldnt get any further than the first site the grass wasnt cut very well and the spot i had to camp at was right in the sun with no shade and it was 84 out i asked before i went if a charger would make it through and i was told it would be fine but it wasnt definitely needed 4x4 suv just wanst what i expected at all didnt even stay one night but i paid for 2

Richard, I’m so sorry you didn’t let me know of your troubles. I could have directed you to another site. I’ll say though, that I drive all the sites in a Toyota Prius, so it really shouldn’t have been a problem. Again, I wish you had let me know. Communication is key. I wondered why you didn’t stay!
Leslie is a joy. She immediately gave us a great tour of her horses, which was interesting and informative. Very quiet spot up on a nice rise with a beautiful view to the south. There is a dilapidated city bus and run down shack north of the camp site where we stayed, which when looking in that direction detracts somewhat from the experience. That said, it’s far enough away that it didn’t bother us once we got used to it’s distant presence. The property allows for some nice walks and exploring. We’re already planning to go back
Beautiful rustic and private campsite in a beautiful, natural setting. Best navigated with a truck, SUV, Subaru Outback or similar vehicle with extra ground clearance. Leslie was very pleasant and easy to communicate with. Keep food secure at night - we were visited by a curious racoon! If you are new to rustic camping, be prepared to check humans and dogs ticks.
We had a wonderful time at camp Kokovoko. Leslie was an incredible host, and we were warmly welcomed and given a great tour of her farm where we got to meet the sweetest Gotland ponies. There are multiple camping sites to choose from, and they're all secluded and tucked alongside the woods. Leslie has mowed plenty of paths throughout her property, many of them with plenty of shade. We really enjoyed walking past remnants of an old barn, some of which is still intact, and even an old city bus on the property. Overall, we enjoyed the long hikes, the cool night next to a warm fire, and surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature.

Camp Kokovoko never disappoints. Second time here in the last two weeks. Looking forward to our next relaxing visit.
