Hipcamp Raises $25 Million to Get More People Outside

Today, I’m proud to share a significant milestone at Hipcamp: we’ve raised $25 million led by Andreessen Horowitz and its Cultural Leadership Fund. Also participating in the funding round are new strategic investors, including Yes VC, and our previous investors: Benchmark, August Capital, O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures and Slow Ventures. This additional support will help us continue to build Hipcamp and grow our marketplace of remarkable Hosts and Hipcampers in order to fulfill our mission to get more people outside. Andrew Chen, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, will be joining our board and we’re very excited to have him on our team.

“Hipcamp is at the nexus of several cultural movements: the re-embracing of the outdoors, growth of travel and adventure-seeking industries and land conservation and improvement efforts,” said Andrew Chen, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz. “We’re thrilled to support Hipcamp on their mission to ‘get more people outside’ and do it in a way that supports consumer desires while simultaneously creating meaningful revenue opportunities for landowners.”

Since partnering with landowners in 2015, Hipcamp has unlocked access to the largest network of private land in the United States for camping, glamping, RVs and outdoor recreation, with thousands of unique places and outdoor experiences throughout the country. We are proud to feature coconut farms in Hawaii, exclusive vineyards in California, country ranches in Montana, pristine forestry land in Maine, and so much more.

As a result, our emerging markets have experienced explosive growth, earning tens of millions of dollars for landowners. We’re very motivated to contribute to expanding rural economic empowerment, protecting natural ecosystems and local food systems, and sparking widespread, profound connections to the outdoors.

“Hipcamp has all the virtues of a well-lived life that Yes VC wants to fund and support: community, nature, sharing, beauty, prosperity and campfires,” said Caterina Fake, General Partner at Yes VC.

Our work requires passion, teamwork, curiosity, tenacity, and the drive that builds movements. If you or someone you know fits the bill, we’re hiring for several exciting roles, including:

We’re always on the lookout for our future leaders and teammates. If you like what we’re about, please get in touch. We’d love to explore the opportunity of building Hipcamp with you.

I’d like to take a moment to say a huge THANK YOU to our incredible, inspiring community. Everything Hipcamp accomplishes is only possible because of our amazing Hosts and Hipcampers. This investment signals a huge vote of confidence in you, the importance of getting outside, and the community we are building together. Thank you for all that you do to create Hipcamp and for believing in a future where we can #leaveitbetter. We’re just getting started!!

Happy Hipcamping!

Alyssa
