Hipcamp Now Shares Real-Time California State Parks Campsite Availability

Big news! You can now use Hipcamp to access real-time campsite availability information for all California State Parks. Whether you’re researching campgrounds in NorCal’s Mount Diablo State Park or Cuyamaca Rancho outside San Diego, simply check out our park pages to see what state park and private campsites are available on various dates. You can take a look at photos, read reviews, and then pick the site that works best for you, either booking a private site directly on Hipcamp or getting directed to ReserveCalifornia to make a state park reservation.

With this first-of-its-kind API integration, we’re excited to unlock more access to the outdoors and continue advocating for open data standards in public campsite reservation systems. Open data, including our existing inventory of 475,000+ private and public sites, is key to inspiring current and future generations of outdoor enthusiasts.

“As the pandemic continues, people are craving a deeper connection to the outdoors and the need to be outside has never been more important,” Hipcamp founder and CEO Alyssa Ravasio says. “Open data unlocks access to public land to a greater, more diverse group of people and helps Hipcampers avoid overcrowding. This integration comes at a transformative time and we’re so excited to have California State Parks as a part of the Hipcamp community.”

As you look to take part in outdoor experiences in California State Parks and beyond, we want to remind all Hipcampers to recreate responsibly, especially as the world continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Visitors are advised to stay local, wear a face covering, practice physical distancing and avoid gatherings with people outside the immediate household. Also, they should plan ahead as some park units and campgrounds remain temporarily closed due to the pandemic, and wildfire and weather-related impacts.

Check out the new real-time availability at all California State Parks or choose from some of our favorites below.
