You’re Invited—Join the First Camper Club

Fresh terrain. Exploring new Hipcamps as the very first camper. Be the first to visit, review, and leave photos at new Hipcamps and get access to special First Camper Club member rewards, plus the glory of being the first to camp!

This, friends — is the First Camper Club. An invite-only program where trusted Hipcampers can be the first to stay & review new Hipcamps and receive rewards.

Ready to learn more?

Here’s how First Camper Club works:

⛺️Qualify for the Club

To receive First Camper status, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • You’ve stayed at a minimum of 1 Hipcamp
  • You’ve completed 100% of reviews and recommendations from Hipcamp trips

Accept the pledge, get superpowers

Campers who meet the qualifications above will be invited — we’ll let you know by email. Once you accept your invite, you’ll notice a special new “First Camper Club” filter under “more filters” on your discover page.

Flip this filter on, and you’ll see new Hipcamps ready for their first camper. On occasion we’ll share out special perks and discounts for First Campers. We expect this program to evolve as we learn, so strike while the iron is hot!

By accepting the invite to this exclusive program, we ask that you agree to the First Camper Pledge:

  • My review, recommendation, photos & feedback will be thorough, honest & helpful.
  • I’ll let Hipcamp know if I think it isn’t a good fit for the community.
  • I will uphold the Hipcamp values #LeaveItBetter and have fun!

? Bring your adventurous side

First Camper Club is part expedition, part welcoming committee. You’ll head to a new Hipcamp, meet a host for their first time, and introduce them to the community. Will the directions be perfect? Don’t count on it. Will the best spot to pitch a tent be identified? That’s why you’re there. Expect the unexpected.

?  Explore, document, & review

Your visit will shape how this Hipcamp is experienced by campers after you — so take an active role in exploring the property, giving the host feedback, and snapping pics. To stay active in the First Camper Club, you’ll need to leave a review, recommend, upload 5 photos after each trip, and give solid, helpful feedback to the new host. Be specific, be honest, be awesome. Uphold the Hipcamp values!

✔️✔️✔️✔️ How to stay in the First Camper Club

  • Visit at least one qualifying camp in the first 30 days.
  • Visit at least one camp every 60 days (seasonality and weather-permitting)
  • Do not book more than 30 days out from the current date.
  • Complete 100% of post-trip deliverables within 7 days of your visit.

Questions?

? Who qualifies for First Camper Club?

At this time, our invite-only program is for campers with at least one previous Hipcamp trip, and 100% completion rate of their reviews and recommendations from previous Hipcamp trips.

? How can I find new qualifying camps?

If you’re invited into the program and accept the pledge, check the site (regularly!) to find new camps—they’ll get snatched up quick. Let us know if you’d like a weekly First Camper Club email or immediate alert — if we hear from enough folks, we’ll make it for ya.

? Can I book for any date?

Once you find a camp you’re excited about, we ask that you do not book further out than 30 days. These lands need to be explored, stat!

?‍♂️ Can I bring friends?

We encourage it! Be sure to stay within the maximum number of guests indicated on the camp’s page. Bonus: There’s a special prize for the First Camper Club member who gets the most new people outside.

⛺ Are there limits to how long I can stay?

Yep — we ask that you stay a max of two nights (a typical Fri & Sat weekend) when using your First Camper Club perk. Stay for a night or make a longer trip out of it.

⚠️ What happens if I don’t meet trip deliverables?

If you do not complete trip deliverables (review, recommendation, 5 photos) or let the Hipcamp team know it’s not a good fit within 7 days of your trip, your First Camper status will be removed. Once your status is removed, you will be eligible to regain status the following year.

Hipcamp is an online marketplace where you can list, discover, and book campsites and accommodations on private and public land. Hipcamp is your go-to guide to getting outside. If you’re a landowner, Hipcamp creates new revenue streams for your business, which can help conserve your land and keep it wild. #FindYourselfOutside #LeaveItBetter
