Last October we tried something different. To celebrate launching Hipcamp in the state of California, we held our first-ever Hipcamp Campout just north of San Francisco at Austin Creek State Recreation Area. Fast-forward to last week, and you may have seen these little yellow tents from The North Face popping up in your feed paired with the hashtag, #UnderTheStarsNY. With the help of many great partners, we hosted our second-ever campout in celebration of launching the Northeast region of the US, dubbed Under the Stars // NY. The location was somewhere in the middle of lush, green, Catskill-backdropped Ghent, New York in the Hudson Valley.

With the launch of the Northeast region, and soon the Great Lakes region (stay tuned tomorrow!)—you can now use Hipcamp in 23 States1,215 Parks4,585 Campgrounds and 165,758 Campsites.

A huge, monumental thanks to all of our rad partners, especially The North Face, and Culture Collide. Media partners: RdioImpose Magazine, and Village Voice. Food and beverage partners: Lagunitas Brewing CompanyBlue Bottle CoffeeCity Winery NYCDeep Eddy VodkaCatskill Mill Food Truck. Cause partners: Outdoor Nation, and Parks Project. And our rockin’ musical guests: Caveman and Woods.

Saturday, 3-5 p.m. EST: Arrival & Adventure

Picture this (better yet, picture it below): 200 hipcampin’ hooligans flocking from their cities with one goal in mind: camping. For the over 200 guests that arrived, each “campsite” received their own North Face tent to use for the night, along with a Stainless Steel Miir cup, to sustainably tote all of their libations for the next 24 hours.
