Five hot tub glamping retreats within easy reach of London

If you’re in need of a break from city life, how about a glamping getaway with a hot tub? Weekends away don’t get much better and, these days, you don’t have to go much further than the daily commute to find one. Here are five hot tub glamping sites near London…

Wingbury Farm

The three cosy pods with hot tubs at Wingbury Farm provide an all-season getaway that’s less than an hour from London by road or rail. Each pod sleeps up to four and has its own en-suite bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette inside; with a fire pit, barbecue and a Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub outside. Hop in it after a day of walking in the nearby Chiltern Hills to watch the sun go down over the Buckinghamshire countryside before the twinkling fairy lights around it come on. It’s romantic for couples, relaxing for friends and magical for children. A range of customisable extras mean you can tailor your holiday to your own needs – add a bedding package so you don’t have to take your own, a bottle of bubbly for a special occasion and a BBQ box to avoid a trip to the shops.

The Nut Plat Retreat

Antique living vans, a beautiful setting and a wood-fired hot tub combine to make The Nut Plat Retreat in Kent one of the most charming glamping sites near London. Although it’s not far from the city, it feels a million miles away as the two lovingly-restored wooden huts here are set on the edge of a Kentish cobnut orchard, alongside the River Bourne. Each has its own private area with a fire pit, a composting toilet, shower and outdoor camp kitchen. Only one, Ransoms, has the hot tub. There are lots of walking and cycling routes nearby with National Trust property, Ightham Mote a 40-minute hike across fields away. What more could you want? A pub within walking distance, you say? You’re in luck: The Kentish Rifleman serves good food and is just 200 metres from site.

The Chilterns View

Situated between Oxford and Henley, The Chilterns View offers glamping so luxe that it stretches the very definition of the word. Each of this site’s five little lodges has a log burner, a made-up kingsize bed, an en suite bathroom and a fully-fitted kitchenette all under a solid roof. This is romantic, grown-up glamping and the provided towels, toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, in addition to the hot tub, add to the feeling of a relaxing spa break with a healthy dose of the outdoors. There are fantastic country views, lots of lovely walks and plenty of welcoming pubs nearby. That may well be enough for a weekend away but, if you want more, how about a day out to see Oxford’s dreaming spires or Henley’s riverside? Both are within easy reach of this site that’s just an hour west of London.

Graywood Canvas Cottages

There are three super-homely, super-sized, double-decker yurts at Graywood Canvas Cottages. That’s right; double-decker yurts. These glamping giants have a mezzanine level bedroom upstairs while downstairs you’ll find a kitchen, bathroom, combined living-dining room and a second bedroom. In case that’s not quite homely enough for you, there’s a flame-effect heater that looks like a fireplace, a TV and DVD player too. Outside, each has its own deck, garden area, fire pit, barbecue and hot tub. Sleeping up to five, these canvas cottages on a farm in East Sussex are set up with everything you need for a stay and will suit even the most reluctant glamper in even the most reluctant of weathers.

Gooseberry Field Campsite

For the cool of a canvas bell tent combined with the heat of a hot tub make a beeline for Gooseberry Field Campsite in Kent and make sure you book the tent called Urban Aztec. It’s the top spot on the campsite as the only one with a hot tub included. There are seven bell tents dotted around a five-acre field, each with its own charm and style. Urban Aztec may be the only one with a hot tub, but each is furnished with beds and bedding, fairy lights and lanterns, blankets, cushions and bedside tables. A firepit, logs and kindling are provided – and you can add a breakfast hamper to make your stay even easier. The site is a few miles from Ashford, which is only 40 minutes from St Pancras by train or just over an hour from London in the car. Leeds Castle, the Kentish coast and beautiful countryside offer easy days out from here.
