15 Outdoorsy Beers, Plus A Great Brewsworthy Naming Contest!

Do you have a thirst for the outdoors, puns, and beer? With our AleTrails giveaway coming to an end (enter by 11:59 p.m., July 21st!), we’re keeping the good times flowin’ with #brewsandbonfires, a 140-character naming contest on Twitter in conjunction with our buds over at Base Camp Brewing Company, masters of the most pun-worthy S’more Stout, In-Tents IPL, Ripstop Rye Pils—the list goes on.

Participating is simple: tweet your best, and most punny brew name inspired by the outdoors, throw the hashtag #brewsandbonfires on your awesome tweet, and the community will vote in a follow-up blog post for their favorite from top ten selected finalists. The winner will be chosen based on a combination of community voting, and Base Camp’s vote. The winner will receive a Base Camp growler (great for group camping), Base Camp and Hipcamp patches, and *drumroll* Base Camp will BREW A BEER inspired by the winning name. Live tasting details to follow.

The future of beer and camping is in your hands, er, tweets. Check out the rules for our Great Brewsworthy Naming Contest:

  • You must follow @hipcampers and @basecampbrewing on Twitter to participate
  • Tweet your entries between Tuesday, July 21st at 10:00 a.m. PT and Monday, July 27th at 11:59 p.m. PT
  • The top ten finalists will be added to a poll on the Hipcamp blog on Wednesday, July 29th
  • The winner will be announced as an update to this post on Monday, August 3rd
  • If a phrase is duplicated, the first person to submit it will be considered as the winner
  • Entries will be judged by creativity and adherence to the rules

Last but not least, before you get your own ideas brewing, check out our list of 15 already existing outdoorsy beers as inspiration! Hop to it.
