Yurts have a timeless, Arabian nights appeal that has made them one of the mainstays of the glamping scene. There’s not much that can improve the enchanting experience of a yurt stay – nights stargazing through the central crown and sleeping in a proper king-sized bed – but having the added luxury of a hot tub might just do the trick. From glitzy Jacuzzis with power jets and underwater lights, to wood-fired hot tubs and even an up-cycled bath tub, these beautiful hot tub glamping options are some of the coolest in the country. Treemer Farm Yurts, Cornwall
Cornwall and camping go together like scones and jam. And a stay in a Treemer Farm Yurt is the equivalent of adding a luxurious dollop of Cornish clotted cream. There are four 18ft yurts on site, each kitted out to sleep up to five people. They have wooden floors and come furnished with a wood-burning stove. You can cook outside on the campfire or head to the converted barn which houses an indoor games room, toilets and showers as well as a well-equipped campers’ kitchen. Best of all there’s a wood-fired hot-tub. It’s a farm-based site with animals to meet and it’s just a mile from the nearest beach at Lantic Bay.
Country Bumpkin Yurts, Leicestershire
Families and couples will be equally at home at this farm-based site near Market Harborough as there are two yurts sleeping up to six people and one that’s just right for two. The award-winning farm shop, veg garden, orchard and grazing livestock make sure you get a taste of the Good Life. But it’s the rustic-luxurious furnishings inside each yurt and the shared wood-fired hot tub that make it great. That and the fact that each yurt has a wood-burning stove, bathrooms have power showers and there’s a pub 100 yards down the road.
Peake’s Retreats, Staffordshire
The stylish, well-thought-out glamping at Peake’s Retreats is enough to convert the most reluctant of campers – as reviews of this site demonstrate. With an eight-seater hot tub, an indoor Finnish barbecue hut, luxury bathrooms and organic toiletries, stays here lie somewhere between camping and a boutique hotel. You won’t find yourself jostling for space or queueing for the bathroom as there’s only two yurts on site. It’s open all year and provides the perfect retreat whatever the weather after days exploring the Peak District National Park, whose borders are a tempting 12 miles away.
The Secret Yurts, Powys
Shhh – don’t tell the kids if you’re heading to The Secret Yurts. The views, the hot tubs, the Finnish sauna and, of course, the three yurts are strictly adults only. This mid-Wales hideaway is perfect for couples who are looking to get away from it all. You can check in and simply enjoy the views, the loos (each yurt has a private wet room within the facilities building) and barbecues from your deck – not to mention the hot tubs and sauna. Or you can get out and explore the area on walks or by taking to the water at nearby Lake Vvrnwy.
Graywood Canvas Cottages, East Sussex
If you’re nervous about trying glamping for the first time, how about a stay at Graywood Canvas Cottages? Here, you really don’t have to go without as the top-of-the-range yurts, if you can call them that, have a kitchenette with much more than the kitchen sink – not that you’ll be needing it. That’s right, there’s a dishwasher among the many mod cons of each of the three canvas cottages on site. Each sleeps up to five in two bedrooms across a ground and mezzanine floor and each has its own bathroom. There’s a fire pit, barbecue and hot tub outside each cottage too.
Go Eco Glamping, Ceredigion
You don’t have to choose between a yurt and a shepherd’s hut – it’s possible to have both. At Go Eco Glamping, you sleep in a fully-furnished Mongolian yurt and have a shepherd’s hut for the other essentials of life. One side is your very own bathroom, the other a well-equipped kitchen. This yurt-hut combo is the only glamping accommodation on this site in Mid-Wales. It’s adults only, eco-friendly and, of course, comes with its own hot tub making for relaxing, green, grown-up glamping.
Long Valley Yurts, Derbyshire
The Long Valley Yurts at Knotlow Farm are pitched between Bakewell and Buxton, in the Peak District National Park. The simply-named Devon Yurt certainly makes south-west glamping simple. Two yurts: one little (sleeping a family of four) and one great (sleeping up to six) occupy their own meadows and are kitted out for easy living. Beds are made up for you, cooking equipment is provided and you can even order in fruit and veg boxes so you don’t have to do the shopping before you arrive. There’s a little extra charge if you want to use the Scandinavian hot tub outside your yurt but once you see the tub’s Tamar Valley views – we think you simply won’t be able to resist.
Eco Retreats Forest Retreat, Powys
The outdoor wood-fired baths at Eco Retreats Forest Retreat are a little different to your average hot tub. And the site is a little different to your average glamping site too. While other sites might claim to have spacious pitches, Eco Retreats boasts 50 acres for just five yurts. And while other places offer the chance to get away from it all, this site is more remote than most – 25 minutes off the nearest tarmac road. The eco credentials of the place really are at the heart of what they do. It’s off-grid, Wi-Fi free and set on an organic farm deep in the Dyfi Forest.
Woodside Spa and Glamping, East Sussex
