The property far exceeded our expectations. If you're traveling I80 it's conveniently located just far enough away (15 min) from the traffic noise to enjoy the peace and quiet, but close enough not to feel too out of the way. We arrived later than expected and Darlene was there to greet us to show us our sweet campsite which was located next to a woods, near a pond and a very clean port a potty. A water spigot is located a short walk away to fill up water containers. Would highly recommend a visit!
Darlenes land review
Darlene’s site was amazing. She welcomed us as we came in, and showed us to our site. We were offered free firewood, restroom accommodations, and total privacy. Way way way better than expected and will definitely be back. Not gonna find much better in Iowa than you will here.
Big space, welcoming environment
Darlene was waiting for me when I arrived and welcomed me warmly. She showed me the area and encouraged me to check out the many trails around the property. They were awesome and full of decorations in preparation for Halloween! The downside was that the area for tent sites is a bit slanted, and some people staying in cabins were playing music loud music until last midnight.
Secluded campsite, great for a night if you're passing through this part of the midwest. Darlene was really helpful and nice. You can pretty much set up your tent wherever you want, but there are some defined camping areas with picnic tables and fire rings. There are a few cabins that can be rented, but we pitched fairly far from them. There were a few disc golf baskets around that we used in the morning.
Be aware that this is well off the highway on gravel roads and there isn't a sign saying "Darlene's Land". A sign says something like Rock n Ranch with mini golf. Otherwise, all good. I'd stay here again if passing though the area.
Darlene was welcoming and accommodating. She made sure our group had what we needed and were happy with our campsite. The land is secluded, with several different types of campsites available to choose. We will definitely be back!
