I stayed one night at Shady Brook Campground when passing through Iowa on the way back to the east coast. I thought the campground was very nice. The RV spots were wide and level, and overall it was very clean and well kept. The showers and bathrooms were immaculate, private, free, and open 24hrs. Very important for late arrivals. They had a small playground for kids and firepits as well. Perfect for a passerbyer like myself.
Respite for a weary traveler
I arrived tired after a long drive from Denver and was welcomed warmly by Dave and Brenda. Offers to help set up were given, and I was grateful. Great trails to walk the dog and all amenities provided. thank you!
A tidy place with some amenities.
There was what appeared to be a family/friend reunion going on, with about 8-10 of the sites all related and hanging out. The scene was sweet, with kids of all ages running around, but it was very busy.
Not one mask, but it was easy enough for us to keep our distance outside.
Convenient and well-run campsite
Really great site and experience! This place is very convenient to I-80, which was just what we wanted (there is some freeway noise which was fine with us but might not be for everyone). Dave was very helpful and greeted us even despite our late arrival. RV spaces are well-marked and trash is easily accessible. Overall very great stay!
Close to interstate, with a pool!
We found Shady Brook through HipCamp and thought we'd try it for a short stay. The sites don't have water or sewer hookups, but the water spigots have hoses long enough to reach every site to fill your tank and they have a dump station on your way out. OR they will bring their black tank wagon around and dump it for you!
And they have a pool!
The only drawback was the interstate noise. It wasn't horrible, but you could hear it.
Beautiful spot next to interstate
Pretty little RV and tent camping space. Sites were relatively private for RV folks and the tent sites were secluded. Only downfall is highway noise but we were traveling and needed a spot to spend the night.
