WE ARE OPEN YEAR ROUND This 10 acre farm was created as a nonprofit sanctuary for abused, handicapped and senior dogs. On Facebook the sanctuary is listed as Petite Trésors Rescue and Sanctuary and many pictures of our farm and rescues can be viewed. We are 7 to 10 minutes from Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore beaches and hiking trails. 100% of funds from a stay here goes directly to the shelter. Since we have 10 acres, we are allowing campers to choose wherever they want to camp on a first come basis. Established fire pit is the only place for fires. In addition to camping we offer a variety of extras to help fund the nonprofit such as 1 on 1 Yoga (Mary is a certified yoga teacher), art and craft projects (this is a beautiful location for Plein Air Groups or bring your own art supplies) and we offer a variety of products under our label Maison Abeille (our farm honey is a favorite of guests). Campers are welcome to purchase bundles of wood here also.

One of our all time favorite spots! This is the perfect place to relax for the weekend. Plenty of room to spread out and get away. On this property there's is a beautiful gazebo which overlooks the pond. It's a perfect place to sit and watch the sunset. This farmhouse was built in 1860 and they even have the original log cabin which was built 1820.

Nice location not too far from Chicago and a short drive to the beach. The fire pit was lovely and so was access to the bathroom. The site is close to the main house but over looks a mostly rural spot with a few other houses around.

we are two people and a dog & our own tent:
mary and rich were so very kind and helpful. we had privacy and plenty of amenities had we needed any. not too far from the dunes at all and that was where we spent a lot of time. camped in our tent and made a fire, had some beers, then we got carry out breakfast in the morning and enjoyed it in the gazebo overlooking the land / pond.
mary left us towels and hygiene products waiting for us in the bathroom right inside their house! we got lucky because we forgot towels!
would definitely recommend this location. sweet people and great time.

Le Château de Chien was a perfect getaway for a night of camping! My partner and I were impressed by the scenery and the welcoming attitude of the owners! It was very nice to be able to step inside their home to use the restroom or take a shower, especially in this humidity! We appreciated the firewood that was left for us to build a beautiful fire to relax by in the evening! In the morning, we are our breakfast in the screened in gazebo overlooking the pond. It was very relaxing and only a few minutes from the Dunes.
Thank you so much to the owners! You made our stay a great one!!

Set up camp under some trees; lovely views of pasture. There was a huge fire pit with chairs and wood ready for us. The host let our dog swim in the pond, and even mowed around it for easy access. Only downside was noise from a nearby train. A nice place to stay with people doing good for dogs.

The property is beautifully kept and show the care of the hosts. Aside from making a fantastic site which is very close to the dunes and close to stores and anything you might need, they take in abused and abandoned dogs which are kept in their home. We had plenty of space and privacy and our dogs ran around and had a great time. In the warmer months there is a nice size pond and a gazebo on site. Our hosts were so lovely and even gave us a beautiful holiday ornament that was made by hand. It is very quick drove from Chicago and we got to hike and explore the Indiana Dunes. In addition, we ran out of propane for our Mr. Heater but a store nearby solved the problem. I fully recommend the site.
