This site was amazing! It was clean and had everything we needed. My family loved the mini beach and private pond with paddle boat. This was our first time using hipcamp and we were so pleased. What a great way to spend Memorial weekend!
My boyfriend and I stayed overnight and parked our tear drop camper in front of the private fishing pond. We had a view of the pond, a field of tame horses and rolling hills for miles. We also were delighted to have access to water hook up, 30 amp electric and a clean private full bathroom walking distance away. The family and grounds keeper were very friendly.. Two adorable girls brought us pears from their pear trees that were the best pears I have ever eaten. There is a small beach as well, but early Sep was a bit too chilly to enjoy it. The families home is behind the camping areas within view, but the natural terrain also allows a secluded feeling. 20 mins or so to Galena.
Beautiful property; still a work in progress. Pros: lots of space; pretty views of pond, hills, cows; nice indoor bathroom; lots of hook-ups for electricity; friendly host; things to see in the surrounding area. Cons: biting midges! We could hardly tolerate being outside...they even got through the screens of the tents. Hopefully it was just a bad year for them. Not the host's fault.
The first two days were great. The third day several new families moved in and it made it feel very overcrowded. Especially during a pandemic!
Beautiful setting, great host!
10 children and 10 adults were a lot to share one bathroom. especially during a pandemic.
Fantastic property and host
This property is simply beautiful. The host and his family were very welcoming and made us feel like family. There is an older gentleman staying in a tiny house on the property who is just wonderful. There is indeed 30 amp service (might even be 50 amp too), water, a pond to float your own kayak, or they have a paddle boat you can use. It wasn't swimmable at the time we were there (too much algae) but Kevin did mention that they treat it, but the algae just took over this year too much for the treatment to work. As another reviewer mentioned, the area is buggy. We drove to Shullsburg (a small quaint town about 30 minutes away) and they had the same bug problem. Overall a fantastic experience.
